Back in the days before multiple workshops and lengthy regional runs, the geniuses of musical theatre often had to work miracles during of-of-town previews to quickly revise and rewrite surefire flops like HELLO, DOLLY! and A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM into Broadway hits.

This fall, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Broadway Center Stage presented its production of Footloose, the explosive Broadway musical based on the film of the same name. Check out highlights from the production.

By Popular Demand, the Broadway at Birdland concert series presented the return of Julie Halston to the stage.  This special one-night-only event, entitled “Judge Julie Presiding” took place on February 3 at Birdland, located in the heart of Manhattan's Theater District.  The sold-out house was left helpless with laughter, thanks to Ms. Halston's rants, raves and readings!

Each month, Drama Desk Award winner and Emmy® nominee Eugene Pack and his roving band of actors “The Pack” perform staged readings of new original short comedies by the remarkable prize-winning playwright in a variety of venues in the Los Angeles vicinity.

Following on from the highly successful 2019 season, which was nominated for a total of 28 Green Room Awards, the 2020 Darebin Arts Speakeasy season features a program of premieres and performances bigger than ever before.

This past weekend, The Hollywood Museum held its first Lobby tribute of 2020, reuniting three remarkable leading ladies, Joan Van Ark, Michele Lee and Donna Mills, for the 40th anniversary of 'Knots Landing,' unveiling costumes worn by the three Knots' stars on the series, on loan from Warner Brothers and personal collections.

Just last month, The Actors Fund presented the critically acclaimed, Tony Award®-nominated play The Tale of the Allergist's Wife by Charles Busch, for a one-night only benefit reading. The evening starred Busch in the title role, originally played by Linda Lavin, and assembled the entire original all-star Broadway cast including Linda Lavin, Michele Lee, Tony Roberts and Anil Kumar as well as original director Lynne Meadow. All proceeds benefit The Actors Fund.

Red Stitch Actors' Theatre today announced a powerful 2020 season featuring three world premiere productions - all developed at Red Stitch - two Australian premieres and the Victorian debut of two new plays.

It's been a constant stream of theater and cabaret personalities flocking to see Tom Wopat at the Beach Cafe for the past 5 Wednesdays and his concluding night was no different. Enjoying the final show of the series were Michele Lee, Marilyn Maye, Linda Purl, Stacy Sullivan, Deborah Grace Winer, Jamie deRoy and Ken Fallin among others at the intimate East Side supper club. Tom will be returning to the club for a pre New Years Eve show.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced the finalists for the Queensland Premier's Drama Award (QPDA) 2020-21. Artists Anna Loren, Maddie Nixon and Steve Pirie have been selected from the record-breaking field of 221 entries. This marks the largest intake of new dramatic works in the Award's 17-year history, with entries received from every state and territory in Australia.

On Saturday, November 2, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) continues its Jazz Masters music series with the Willie Martinez Latin Jazz Quartet. Martinez, an accomplished drummer, percussionist, arranger/composer and vocalist, will be joined by Nicki Denner on piano/vocals, Bernie Minoso on bass, and Anton Denner on reeds and flute. The group will perform two sets at 7:30 and 9 pm at WCT, 23 Water Street in Ossining.
