The Shed Announces Opening Date of April 5, 2019, and Four Additional Opening Season Commissions

Alex Poots, Artistic Director and CEO of The Shed, announced today that the new nonprofit cultural organization dedicated to commissioning, developing, and presenting original works of art, across all disciplines, for all audiences, will launch its opening season on April 5, 2019. New York City's new arts center, designed for 21st-century artists and audiences, will present world premiere works in the performing arts, visual arts, and popular culture in its innovative, movable building when it opens its doors to the public on Manhattan's west side. Poots also announced the honorary naming of The Shed's building and two of its major spaces in recognition of visionary supporters of the project, four additional artistic commissions for the first half of the opening season, and information about operating hours and tickets.

Bloomberg Philanthropies Awards Coral Springs/Parkland $1M For Art Project On Healing After Gun Violence

Bloomberg Philanthropies announced today the City of Coral Springs, in partnership with the City of Parkland, is a winner of its 2018 Public Art Challenge. Coral Springs will receive $1 million for its project "Inspiring Community Healing After Gun Violence: The Power of Art." The project will use art to bring the community together in collective healing and reflection following the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD) shooting in February of 2018.

Austin Shakespeare Selected As Grantee Recipient Of Bloomberg Philanthropies Program

Through the $43 million multi-year initiative, Bloomberg Philanthropies will provide unrestricted general operating support as well as arts management training in areas that include fundraising, strategic planning, marketing and board development.

Bloomberg Philanthropies Selects 53 Cultural Orgs In Austin/New Orleans As Part Of $43M Training Program

Bloomberg Philanthropies today announced that 26 cultural organizations in Austin and 27 organizations in New Orleans have been selected to participate in the Arts Innovation and Management (AIM) program. A list of the organizations can be found here. The invitation-only program seeks to strengthen the organizational capacity and programming of small and midsize cultural organizations within seven U.S. cities: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Denver, New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.  More than 200 cultural organizations have been selected to participate and are being announced on a rolling basis throughout the summer and early fall.

Mosaic Theater Company of DC today announced that it is a grant recipient of Bloomberg Philanthropies' Arts Innovation and Management (AIM) program. The invitation-only program seeks to strengthen the organizational capacity and programming of small and mid-size cultural organizations within Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Denver, New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. Through the $43 million multi-year initiative, Bloomberg Philanthropies will provide unrestricted general operating support as well as arts management training in areas that include fundraising, strategic planning, marketing and board development.

The Theatre Lab Earns $100,000 Arts Innovation And Management Award From Bloomberg Philanthropies

The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts has been selected as one of 47 Washington-area cultural institutions to participate in the Arts Innovation and Management training program, part of Mike Bloomberg's American Cities Initiative, in an effort to help cities generate innovation. As part of the program, The Theatre Lab will receive a $100,000 award to support operations and arts management training over two years.

Bloomberg Philanthropies today announced that 47 cultural organizations in Washington D.C. and 38 organizations Pittsburgh have been selected to participate in the Arts Innovation and Management (AIM) program. Tony Winner David Rockwell Will Design West Side Arts Center- The Shed

Daniel L. Doctoroff, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Alex Poots, Founding Artistic Director and CEO of New York's new center for artistic invention, The Shed, today announced an extraordinary lead gift from Bloomberg Philanthropies of $75 million toward the capital campaign for the new institution. Currently under construction on Manhattan's west side, where the High Line meets Hudson Yards, The Shed is scheduled to open to the public in spring 2019.
