Following fifteen sold out shows, The Laurie Beechman Theatre will continue their hit series, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED, for a sixteenth installment, Monday, July 25 at 7pm. In this special addition to the series, we'll be celebrating our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, having begun this journey of celebrating Sondheim in July of 2010.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is very pleased to announce two very special performances of a brand new venture, SIMPLY STREISAND, a celebration of Ms. Barbra Streisand, her legendary career and the music she made famous. SIMPLY STREISAND will take place for two very special performances only, Wednesdays, August 10 and 24 @ 7pm. The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within The West Bank Cafe, 407 West 42nd St., in the heart of New York's theatre district. After kicking off the inaugural season of Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, shattering all box office records from Arena Stage's 60-year history and rounding up 10 Helen Hayes Awards nominations, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! has returned for a summer run under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith. The revival, featuring the entire original principal cast and most of the ensemble, has already broken more company records by selling the highest number of single tickets for a production in 24 hours when tickets went on sale March 3, 2011. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! began performances on July 8, 2011 and opened July 14. The production runs through October 2, 2011 in the Fichandler Stage. Award-Winning vocalist ERIC MICHAEL GILLETT will extend his run of CAST OF THOUSANDS: Gillett Sings Carnelia at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Mondays, July 11 & 18 & Tuesdays, August 2 & 23, all at 7pm. He will be accompanied by Musical Director Jeff Cubeta, with arrangements by Cubeta & Christopher Denny. CAST OF THOUSANDS is directed by Arthur Masella.

Singers Forum, a non-profit musical oasis committed to providing the highest quality vocal training for New York City residents, will be offering a weekend intensive Teen Cabaret Workshop from Friday, June 24 through Sunday, June 25.

Included in the cast are an array of Broadway and cabaret alums, including Eric Michael Gillett (The Frogs, Kiss Me, Kate, Sweet Smell of Success), Jana Robbins (Mazeppa in the 1989 revival of Gypsy), and Lucia Spina (B'way's Legally Blonde, South Pacific). We're also pleased to welcome three very special guests, each of whom created roles in Sondheim musicals: Crista Moore (Louise in the 1989 Broadway revival of Gypsy), Teri Ralson (Company's original Jenny and Mrs. Nordstrom in the original A Little Night Music) and Sarah Rice(Sweeney Todd's original Johanna). Recently, Sondheim Unplugged received the 2011 Bistro Award for Outstanding Cabaret Series, and was nominated for the 2011 MAC Award.

His show 'Minor Fall, Major Lift' features musical selections that range from the 1950s (Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka), 1960s (The Beatles, Smokey Robinson), 1970s (Led Zeppelin, Chicago) and the present day (Macy Gray, Maroon 5).
