The fifth annual Mayor's Art Scholarship Reception was held in the Legacy Room of Houston's City Hall on April 11, 2018. Since 2014, the Houston Arts Partners coalition has partnered with the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and the Mayor's Office of Education to recognize outstanding student artwork on the themes of Neighborhoods, Identity, and Diversity. This year, 159 students from 17 public school districts and public charter systems participated.
CAROUSEL Announces Matinee Benefitting Actors Fund

Carousel and The Actors Fund announced today that the new hit revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical will host a special Mondaymatinee performace on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th St.), with proceeds to benefit The Actors Fund.

Michael Harrison and David Ian are delighted to announce that their smash hit production of the musical "ANNIE" will embark on a UK tour opening at the Manchester Opera House on Saturday 9 February 2019. This production recently ran for an extended season in the West End following a sell out tour of the UK and Ireland in 2015/16 and will open later this month in Toronto.

Grand Theatre Hosts The North American Premiere of CHARIOTS OF FIRE

The Grand Theatre is thrilled to produce the North American premiere of the stage adaptation of CHARIOTS OF FIRE. Directed by Grand Theatre Artistic Director Dennis Garnhum, and starring Harry Judge and Wade Bogert-O'Brien, the story is based on the iconic film that won four Academy Awards in 1981. The original stage adaptation had its premiere in London England's West End in 2012, and this month, London, Ontario's Grand Theatre is the first to produce it outside of England. Firehouse's TO DAMASCUS Awarded $10,000 NEA Grant

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $25 million in grants as part of the NEA's first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $10,000 to Firehouse Theatre for the world premiere of Richmond composer Walter Braxton's opera TO DAMASCUS. This is the first direct NEA grant that Firehouse has received in its 24 year history.
