This past March, at 2017's MAC Awards, honoring the best of cabaret in New York over the past season, as in most years, there were five nominees for Female Vocalist: Celia Berk, Sally Darling, Meg Flather, Josephine Sanges, and Lisa Viggiano. It's not particularly important, in this case, who won. (Flather did.) If their shared story met the usual expectations, it would've ended there and each nominee would've gone on her own way to do her next big thing. You'll be happy to hear their story defies those expectations.

Urban Stages presents this year's award-winning series, WINTER RHYTHMS 2017, which begins tonight, December 12, featuring some of New York's best musical performances through Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street, just East of 8th Avenue).

The 2017 awards honor productions which opened between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017. Nominations were completely reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended October 31, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors.

On November 21, Celia Berk, Sally Darling, Meg Flather, Josephine Sanges and Lisa Viggiano reprise TOGETHER: 2017 Cabaret Award-Nominated Vocalists, whose spring and summer performance's benefiting Trinity Place Shelter and #TheEmpathyInitiative of The Seeing Place Theatre, were warmly received. Proceeds from their upcoming November show will benefit The Meatloaf Kitchen (founded by University Community Social Services) serving dinners to hungry New Yorkers every Saturday since 1982. Efforts to support to a soup kitchen during the season of thanks felt so right to the TOGETHER team.

Mad Women in my Attic! The haunting, comedic cabaret show, Mad Women in my Attic! comes to the United Solo Festival on Saturday, October 7th at 4:0 pm. The production played to critical acclaim at the Brighton Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015. 

On August 4, Celia Berk, Sally Darling, Meg Flather, Josephine Sanges and Lisa Viggiano reprise TOGETHER: 2017 Cabaret Award- Nominated Vocalists whose first performance in June, benefiting Trinity Place Shelter, was warmly received. After years of presenting some of New York's most beloved and fabulous drag performers, Feinstein's/54 Below launches an ongoing Late Night Drag Series. Curated by Garth Schilling (also known to the drag community as Miss Vodka Stinger), the new Late Night Drag Series features a rotating roster of up-and-coming and legendary New York City drag performers on select Thursday nights at 11:30PM with $20 tickets and a two-drink minimum.

Of course, the prospect of a little snow wouldn't deter honorees from coming out, though it did slightly impact the order of the evening's events, shifting the 'grand finale' to the 'grand opening.'
