A splendid Gala in uncertain times like these, a rare gift. Wolfgang Ebner, the new owner of the culinary Variety Theater and Event Location, formally known as DAS VINDOBONA! The house in Vienna´s 20th District has been a part of Austria's entertainment and cabaret scene since the early '90s. From 2009 the owners of the famous Kabarett Simpl owned the Vindobona for some of their productions. Earlier this year, Wolfgang Ebner made the tough decision to buy the house, refurbish it and transform it into a top-class entertainment and dinner location. The Vindobona is like New York´s Don't Tell Mama, a bar, a restaurant, and a cabaret-like theatre. Ebner is exactly what the theater needs these days. A small chance of success, uncertain times ahead, many would say no and step away from a project like this but not Ebner. Crazy and brave enough to open the house with a varicolored program on the menu. From Dinner shows to Concerts, to Burlesque and Drag shows, magic nights, and many more, something for everyone's taste. Opening Nights are always special, the air is filled with a magical atmosphere, expectations are on a high amount. Since the Big C hit our world and took the theatre from us for quite a long time, we are even more thankful for some live entertainment. Back in the auditorium is like walking into the room at Christmas and facing the illuminated Christmas tree for the very first time. It's theatre, a live performance but of course with some restrictions.
We are in the middle of something, no one ever dreamed about. Theatres, Cafes, Restaurants, all closed, our social life swapped into the world of digital communications. From the 13th to the 18th of February 2020, The Musical Showroom will be presenting the Austrian premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical ASPECTS OF LOVE at the Theater Arche in Vienna. The musical tells in 2 acts the tragic and emotional story of a family and their companions over three generations.

Carrie a?" The Musical was the final production of this year's graduating class of the Stage School in Hamburg. Felix Löwy and Lauren Slater-Klein directed the show. It was produced by Thomes Gehle and performed 40 times this July and August at the First Stage Theatre. The musical's book is by Lawrence D. Cohen, with lyrics by Dean Pitchford and music by Michael Gore. The story is based on Stephen King's novel Carrie, published in 1974. It is about a teenage girl who is raised by her religious fanatic mother. Bullied at school and oppressed by her classmates, she unleashes telekinetic powers which lead to a fatal climax at the school's prom night.
Aktuell kann man am Theater St.Gallen das Musical Don Camillo & Peppone von Michael Kunze und Dario Farina in seiner Weltpremiere erleben. In Koproduktion mit den Vereinigten Buhnen Wien bringt das Theater St.Gallen die zwei beruhmten Streithahne aus den gleichnamigen Kultfilmen und mit ihnen eine ganze Dorfgemeinschaft voll sudlandischer Lebensfreude auf die Buhne. Entstanden ist ein Musical fur die ganze Familie uber menschliches Miteinander, Toleranz und die Kraft der Versohnung. Die Hauptrollen werden von bekannten Musicalstars wie Maya Hakvoort (Die alte Gina), Andreas Lichtenberger (Don Camillo) und Frank Winkels (Peppone) verkorpert. Der Schweizer Schauspieler und Kabarettist Walter Andreas Muller halt als Grossvater Nonno nicht nur das ganze Dorf, sondern vor allem die Lehrerin Laura Castelli (Femke Soetenga) auf Trab. Ab Fruhjahr 2017 wird das Musical dann im Ronacher in Wien als osterreichische Erstauffuhrung zu sehen sein.
„Normal" wird das Leben der Goodmans sicherlich nie sein, aber ob sie einen Weg finden, mit der Krankheit umzugehen, davon erzahlt Fast Normal. Die emotionale Kraft von Handlung und Musik begrundet den immensen Erfolg des Musicals, das in Dortmund in einer Inszenierung von Stefan Huber (Funny Girl) zu sehen ist. Die Premiere fand am vergangenen Samstag zu gemischten Kritiken statt, wahrend das Publikum mit minutenlangem Schlussapplaus seine Begeisterung zum Ausdruck brachte. Weitere Vorstellungen laufen noch bis Mitte Juni.
DON CAMILLO UND PEPPONE, das neue Werk von Michael Kunze und Dario Farina, das am Theater St.Gallen zur Urauffuhrung gelangt, basiert auf der 1948 publizierten Sammlung von Kurzgeschichten des Autors Giovannino Guareschi. Die Premiere findet am 30. April statt, und die Besetzung wurde jetzt bekannt gegeben. Auf der Buhne stehen werden bekannte Darsteller wie Maya Hakvoort, Andreas Lichtenberger, Frank Winkels und Femke Soetenga.
Als Next to Normal 2008 am New Yorker Broadway uraufgefuhrt wurde, war die Sensation perfekt: Zwar ist auch in der Gattung Musical langst nicht mehr alles nur reine Unterhaltung, doch nie zuvor wurde das sensible und auch bei uns immer noch tabuisierte Thema der psychischen Erkrankungen so realistisch, einfuhlsam und intensiv auf der Musiktheater-Buhne gezeigt. Es war das erklarte Ziel der beiden Autoren Brian Yorkey und Tom Kitt, dass das Publikum nicht nur zuschauen, sondern auch mitfuhlen sollte. Dies ist ihnen gelungen durch ein gut recherchiertes, zuweilen irrwitziges Libretto, das Tom Kitt nahezu vollstandig durchkomponiert hat. Er verknupft dabei virtuos verschiedene Musikstile und sorgt dafur, dass man trotz der Ernsthaftigkeit des Stoffes immer mal wieder befreit lachen darf.
Als NEXT TO NORMAL 2008 am New Yorker Broadway uraufgefuhrt wurde, war der Erfolg sensationell. Marz 2016, der Broadway-Hit in der Inszenierung des Schweizer Musicalregisseurs Stefan Huber auf dem Spielplan. Die Hauptrollen werden von den Musicalstars Maya Hakvoort und Rob Fowler ubernommen.
Intendant Christian Struppeck prasentiert auch 2013 wieder ein großes Musicalkonzert-Highlight und holt Andrew Lloyd Webbers Meisterwerk LOVE NEVER DIES erstmals in deutscher Sprache in konzertanter Fassung nach Wien ins Ronacher.
