Today, the Royal Shakespeare Company announces the adult casting for the first five venues of the Matilda The Musical 2018/19 UK and Ireland Tour. Craige Els will reprise the role of Miss Trunchbull, having played her in the West End for three years between 2014 and 2017. He will be joined by Carly Thoms as Miss Honey and Sebastien Torkia as Mr Wormwood as well as former West End cast-mate Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood.

The Knowledge is based on the iconic 1979 TV film comedy. Maureen Lipman not only played a leading role in the film, but is also Jack Rosenthal's widow. The stage premiere of The Knowledge is currently in previews at Charing Cross Theatre for an opening on 11 September and a run through 11 November 2017. Direct from a highly celebrated extended season in London's West End, casting has been announced for Bill Kenwright's production of Alan Ayckbourn's farcical tale of matrimonial mishaps, How the Other Half Loves as it gets set thrill audiences across the UK this autumn. The 1969 classic and the first of Ayckbourn's plays to be staged on Broadway, will open at Theatre Royal Windsor today 30th August, continuing to Salford, Glasgow, Malvern, Bath, York, Richmond, Guildford, Cheltenham, Brighton and Norwich.

Three members of one real-life family - father, son and wife - bring Hamlet's incestuous confusion of family life sharply into focus in a brand new production at Park Theatre. Starring Gyles Brandreth, Benet Brandreth and Kosha Engler, this take on Shakespeare's epic drama fixes the spotlight on the myriad ways families make and un-make themselves. The production runs 22 August - 16 September, with an official press night today 30 August.

The Knowledge will preview at Charing Cross Theatre from Monday 4 September and run 10 weeks to Saturday 11 November. Press night is Monday 11 September at 7.30pm.

The Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year prize is awarded annually, with 12 talented finalists, picked from drama schools across the UK, competing in a gala show. This year, former winner Alex Young joins the judging panel.

Today, Buckland Theatre Company has announced casting for Marius von Mayenburg's The Ugly One, the company's third production at PARK90 at Park Theatre. Staged ten years after its debut at the Royal Court Theatre, The Ugly One will run from 1 - 24 June with a press night on 9 June.
