Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) has announced complete casting for the 38th Marathon of One-Act Plays, which will be fully comprised of work from artists who identify as Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC). This year's selection of eleven plays was curated by Co-Artistic Directors Mike Lew (Teenage Dick) and Colette Robert (Behind the Sheet). Ten plays will be presented across two different series from Sunday October 16 through Sunday November 13 at EST.

The staged reading of Greenwood by Coolidge Harris II, the inaugural presentation of the TRU Diversity/Amplifying BIPOC Voices program initiative, will be followed by a 'dollars and sense' talkback discussion about the development of this new work. The reading will take place on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 7pm ET at The Actors’ Temple.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU), announces the launch of TRU Diversity: Amplifying BIPOC Voices, an initiative to highlight the works and explore the concerns of BIPOC theater artists, producers and administrators. The debut of the TRU Diversity program will feature a free reading of Greenwood, a relevant new play by TRU member Coolidge Harris II, set during the Tulsa Race Massacre.

Redhouse Arts Center continues its 2022 portion of the season and will feature the previously much anticipated play, August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning American masterpiece, Fences.

The Bridge Production Group will present World Premiere short plays by Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley (Doubt), a staged reading of a new play by Lyle Kessler (Orphans), and a workshop on devised theatre with new presentations from The Assembly.

Redhouse Arts Center continues its 2019/2020 season with August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning American masterpiece, Fences. The sixth Play in Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, Fences explores the African-American experience through the eyes of a former Negro League baseball star, Troy Maxson.

Langston Hughes, 1964 These words by the great Langston Hughes adorn the backdrop of Metrostage's moving production of Carlyle Brown's Are you now, or have you ever been Waiting for the play to begin the audience is left to ponder these words and how they frame the action on stage. Politics and the arts have had a difficult time coexisting during certain eras, particularly during the Army-McCarthy hearings of 1953-54, which colloquially known as McCarthyism. The 90 minute intermission-less play takes place on the eve of Mr. Hughes testimony to the committee and the committee hearing itself. The evening before the hearing, Mr. Hughes is struggling to comprehend his subpoena to the hearings while attempting to write the poem, Georgia Dusk .

Producing Artistic Director Carolyn Griffin is pleased to announce that the play Are You Now or Have You Ever Been , a play written and conceived by Carlyle Brown and directed by MetroStage Artistic Associate Thomas W. Jones II with original music by William Knowles, will be in performance Oct. 5-Nov. 5 at MetroStage.

This limited Off-Broadway engagement continues through March 26th.   The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is enjoying an extended run at La Mama after being developed at the Actors Studio as part of the Theater & Social Justice program, using Actors Studio members.     

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) presents Macbeth, directed by Tony Award-nominee Liesl Tommy and featuring Jesse J. Perez as Macbeth and Nikkole Salter as Lady Macbeth. The show will run April 25-May 28 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).
