Manhattan Theatre Club (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director and Barry Grove, Executive Producer) has announced casting for the upcoming world premiere of The Best We Could (A Family Tragedy), written by the company's 2019-20 Tow Playwright-in-Residence, Emily Feldman (Three Women in Four Chairs, My Lover Joan), and directed by Daniel Aukin (Fool For Love, Fulfillment Center).

In the east coast premiere of Sharr White's very dark and powerful comedy, Chick Ford surprises his parents when he returns home from prison after serving only 14 years of a 486 year sentence. He's been released to face a possible retrial for a gruesome murder that he confessed to committing when he was a teenager. The flat-broke Ford family has tried to rebuild their lives and overcome the shame and guilt of their son's crime. Now that Chick is back they're forced to reluctantly face the consequences of the past and chose a path forward.

The Morgan-Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica will present Terrence McNally's barb-filled love letter to the madness of high-stakes New York theater, It's Only a Play, playing now through Feb. 9, 2020, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The production is directed by Aric Martin, produced by Kalila Horwitz, and stage managed by Ashley DeFrancesco, with costume design by Kristie Mattsson and set and lighting design by William Wilday. The cast features (in alphabetical order) Chris Aruffo, Michael Bernstein, David Callander, Joanna Churgin, Justin Heller, Kelly McReynolds, and Kent Navarette.

NewYorkRep to Hold Industry Reading of New Musical JUST BETWEEN THE ALL OF US

NewYorkRep, in association with Bill DeSimone and Jenna Grossano, will present two industry readings of Just Between The All of Us, with book & lyrics by Kellen Blair (Murder For Two) and Sarah Ziegler Blair, and music by David Christensen. 2020 Johnny Mercer Writers Colony At Goodspeed Participants Announced

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals.
