Complete Casting Announced For Industry Reading of SUPPER

BESPOKE PLAYS - a bicoastal production company - will present an industry reading of SUPPER by Phinneas Kiyomura on Sunday, February 16th. Completing the cast are Josh Adam Ramos (Chicken and Biscuits), Alexander Sanders (Pip's Island), and Emily Gardner Xu Hall (I Am This For You). They join the previously announced Danny Johnson (Daredevil, Luke Cage) and C.K. Allen (Guiding Light, All My Children). Daryl Lathon (Steal The Stars) will direct; the Production Stage Manager is Allie York. Kelsey Sheppard will read stage directions.

THE RED WOOL by Jeremy Kareken to Have Industry Staged Reading, Greg Kotis Will Lead the Cast

Theatre Upstairs of Phoenix, AZ and Tyler Boettcher & Lauren Rohs will present an industry staged reading of The Red Wool, a new raucous comedy by Broadway's Jeremy Kareken (Lifespan of a Fact). The industry presentation will take place on Monday, February 10th at a private residence in New York City. Tony Award winning playwright & actor Greg Kotis (Urinetown) will star as King Ashurnasirpal II, leading a Phoenix based cast. TFANA Will Present the New York Premiere of Will Eno's GNIT, Directed by Oliver Butler

Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) will present the New York premiere of celebrated American playwright Will Eno's Gnit, inspired by Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt (originally published in 1867). Directed by Eno's frequent collaborator, the Obie and Lortel Award-Winner Oliver Butler (Eno's 2014 The Open House and the 2018 revival of Thom Paine (based on nothing), starring Michael C. Hall, both at Signature Theater, and 2019's The Plot at Yale Rep; Heidi Schreck's Tony Award-nominated What the Constitution Means to Me).

Danny Johnson And C.K. Allen To Lead New York Industry Reading Of SUPPER

BESPOKE PLAYS - a bicoastal production company - is excited to announce that Danny Johnson (Daredevil, Luke Cage) and C.K. Allen (Guiding Light, All My Children) will lead the first New York industry reading of Phinneas Kiyomura's Supper. These two juggernauts will star as two warring brothers definitely not based on the elder Koch brothers in a play that resembles a cage match crossed with classic farce. Additional cast and production team members will be announced shortly.

Brendan Coyle of DOWNTON ABBEY Will Lead the Goodman Theatre's MOLLY SWEENEY; Full Cast Announced!

Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls has announced casting for his upcoming revival of Molly Sweeney by Brian Friel. In assuming the title role, Chicago favorite Kate Fry returns to the Goodman, following her recent appearance in Falls' production of The Winter's Tale. Joining Fry are stage and screen star Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey), who returns to the Goodman following his triumphant appearance in last season's St. Nicholas by Conor McPherson, and Chicago's Christopher Donahue (Oedipus Rex at Court Theatre, Moby Dick at Lookingglass).

INDUSTRY: Social Insight Report - February 3rd - AMERICAN UTOPIA & JAGGED LITTLE PILL Top Growth For 4th Consecutive Week

The top growing current Broadway musicals were Jagged Little Pill (1.56%), Beetlejuice (1.08%), Hadestown (1.03%), Tina: The Tina Turner Musical (0.78%) and Ain't Too Proud (0.52%). The top growing current Broadway plays were American Utopia (2.73%), The Inheritance (1.33%), To Kill A Mockingbird (0.39%), Lincoln Center Theatre (0.05%) and The Sound Inside (0%).

La Jolla Playhouse Launches 2020 POP Tour, Developed In Partnership With National Disability Theatre

La Jolla Playhouse is pleased to launch its 2020 Performance Outreach Program (POP) Tour production: Emily Driver's Great Race through Time and Space, by A.A. Brenner and Gregg Mozgala, directed by National Disability Theatre (NDT) Co-Executive Directors and Playhouse Artists-in-Residence Talleri A. McRae and Mickey Rowe. The production will tour schools throughout San Diego County January 29 a?" March 27.  Commissioned by the Playhouse, this world-premiere play for young audiences will also have four public performances on February 29 and March 1 at 1:00pm and 3:00pm at La Jolla Playhouse. Tony-Winning Revival of August Wilson's JITNEY Announced At Seattle Rep

Seattle Rep is proud to present the acclaimed Broadway production of August Wilson's Jitney, beginning February 28 in the Bagley Wright Theater. Directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Jitney was the last of Wilson's plays to premiere on Broadway, where it won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. 

Richard Maltby Jr., David Shire and More to Be Honored at the 35th Annual Bistro Awards

One of the longest-running musical partnerships in Broadway history, lyricist and director Richard Maltby, Jr. and composer David Shire, will be honored, along with a diverse group of 17 other outstanding artists, at the 35th Annual Bistro Awards on Monday, March 9 at Gotham Comedy Club (208 West 23rd Street). As is the Bistro Awards tradition, the evening will feature performances by the winners.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater Will Stage World Premiere of Ingrid Michaelson's THE NOTEBOOK Musical

Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced today that it will stage the World Premiere musical The Notebook, based on the classic best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks that inspired the hugely popular film. The musical adaptation features music and lyrics by multi-Platinum singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson with book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter-best known as a writer and producer on NBC's hit series This Is Us.

The Bucks County Playhouse is one of the most historic theaters in the country. Its wooden walls practically brim over with a sense of magic, holding within them the vast legacy of performers and creatives who made their impact upon its stage. Names like Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, Neil Simon, Helen Hayes, Angela Lansbury... and that's the short list. One of the people currently contributing to the Playhouse's legacy in a big way is Alexander Fraser, who came onboard the Bucks County Playhouse team as Producing Director in January of 2014.

Teen Arts Week Returns March 2-8, And 92Y Announces Contest For Teens

92Y announces the second annual Teen Arts Week will take place March 2-8, 2020. It's seven days of FREE cultural events for NYC youth in all five boroughs. Dozens of leading arts organizations will offer classes, performances, music jams, poetry slams, art-making, films, career workshops, and more. Teens will be able to gain hands-on experience, engage with professionals in the creative industries, and explore pathways to future leadership within the context of the arts. All events are free to students 14 + with a valid school ID, and educators are invited to bring student groups. The Old Globe presents August Wilson's Jitney, directed by one of Wilson's foremost interpreters, Ruben Santiago-Hudson (directed Jitney on Broadway, performed in Gem of the Ocean and Seven Guitars). The American master and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson (the American Century Cycle of 10 plays) had a close relationship with The Old Globe, where three of his plays premiered.
