Red Bull Theater Announces Selections for 11th ANNUAL SHORT NEW PLAY FESTIVAL

Red Bull Theater today announced the selections for The 2021 Short New Play Festival, their eleventh annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes, featuring six brand new plays that have been selected from hundreds of open submissions from playwrights across the country, and more.

Tamilla Woodard has been appointed Chair of the Acting Department at Yale School of Drama and Resident Director at Yale Repertory Theatre. She will be working part-time this spring to prepare for the upcoming academic year; her five-year term begins officially on July 1, 2021.

Red Bull Theater today announced that submissions will begin for their 11th annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes. Six brand new plays, inspired by this year’s theme: “Restoration,” will be selected through an open submission process to premiere alongside commissions from C. A. Johnson and José Rivera.

Hartford Stage announced today the last two plays of the 56th season. Incoming Hartford Stage Artistic Director Melia Bensussenwill stage the Eugene O'Neill coming-of-age comedy Ah, Wilderness! It will be Bensussen's first production as Artistic Director at Hartford Stage. Former Hartford Stage Artistic Director Michael Wilson will return to direct the original play that inspired the Oscar-winning film The King's Speech, written by its Oscar-winning screenwriter David Seidler.
