For the first time since closing its doors due to the pandemic in March 2020, Orlando Shakes in partnership with UCF will return to its artistic home inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center.

Second Stage Theater has confirmed three Broadway productions at the Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street) and two Off-Broadway productions at the Kiser Theater (305 West 43rd Street) for the return season, beginning performances in fall of 2021.

The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Musicals will premiere tonight. The actors performing the series of Viral Monologues will include: Allison Posner, Andrew Leeds, Anika Larsen, Bonnie Milligan, Chad Burris, Derek Klena, Derrick Baskin, Joél Pérez, Lennon Parham, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Melody A. Betts, and Robbie Fairchild.

After having closed its doors to the public in March 2020 due to COVID-19, the Alley Theatre has announced its plans to reopen the theatre in Fall 2021. Reopening the Alley Theatre coincides with its 75th Anniversary Season with performances beginning on October 1, 2021.

Signature Theatre has announced that the company’s 30th Anniversary Annual Gala: Three Decades Together, One Future for Us All will take place virtually on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Signature Theatre will present the inaugural Signature Outstanding Artist Award to Resident Playwright Anna Deavere Smith.

The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues will return tonight with an all new series of unforgettable monologues.  Thirteen actors have been paired with thirteen writers, who have crafted unique pieces especially for their actors. From 6 PM until 10 PM, new monologues will be published every 15 minutes.

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced that Amanda Green has been elected to be their incoming Council President succeeding outgoing President Doug Wright. She will be the first woman president in the Guild’s 100-year history.

For more than four decades, The St. Louis Black Rep’s founder and Producing Director, Ron Himes has dedicated his life to staging productions from the African American perspective to heighten the social and cultural awareness of audiences in the St Louis area and beyond. He has produced and directed more than 200 plays at The Black Rep, but his life’s work goes well beyond producing, directing and staging theatrical events. The Department of Theatre Arts at Western Connecticut State University is proud to present its Spring Virtual Production Series. Awarded annually since 1977, The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize is the largest and oldest international prize honoring Women+ playwrights.

Palm Beach Dramaworks has announced that it will be reopening its doors for the 2021-2022 season with a full slate of five plays at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. Opening night is set for Friday, October 15, and new health and safety protocols will be in place.
