Huntington Theatre Company announces the award-winning creative team of Huntington Playwriting Fellow Lydia R. Diamond's (Stick Fly on Broadway and the Huntington, Smart People at the Huntington) stage adaptation of Toni Morrison's first novel The Bluest Eye. Ms. Diamond's stage adaptation of this profound piece of American literature by the Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author will be directed by one of American Theatre's a?oeTheatre Workers You Should Know,a?? Awoye Timpo (In Old Age at New York Theatre Workshop, Good Grief at the Vineyard Theatre). The Bluest Eye begins performances at the Huntington Avenue Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue, Boston) Friday, April 24, 2020 and runs through Sunday, May 24, 2020.

Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, continues its 2019/20 Season with Stick Fly, written by Lydia R. Diamond and directed by WT Resident Director Ron OJ Parson. Stick Fly runs February 5, 2020 a?" March 15, 2020 in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe. The Press Opening is Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

Tony Award winner and American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon announced today the full cast and creative team for Lydia R. Diamond's new play, Toni Stone.

The Toni Morrison Tribute Gala and production of The Bluest Eye will light up the Hudson Backstage Theatre on Friday, January 24. Following the theatrical adaptation, join playwright Lydia R. Diamond, Actor Obba Babatundé, Actress Ann Marie Johnson, and Director Bernadette Speakes for an intimate discussion of Mrs. Morrison and her work. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO), in association with Samantha Barrie, will conclude the world premiere production of TONI STONE, by Lydia R. Diamond, with direction by Pam MacKinnon, on Sunday, August 11.

The Huntington Theatre Company's annual Summer Workshop began rehearsals July 9 and will conclude in public readings of four new plays on July 20 and 21, 2019. The workshop allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to focus on developing new plays. The workshop and public readings will take place in the South End at the Huntington's Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street, Boston.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) is thrilled to announce the newest addition to the artistic team: Directing Fellow Cristina Angeles. Angeles is the fourth Roundabout Directing Fellow; this season she will assist on Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, work with the theatre's artistic team as a script reader, and use Roundabout's resources to develop her own projects.
