JBFC announced today a variety of unique and compelling film series launching and returning this fall. Select film screenings also feature thought-provoking and engaging Q&As with renowned American and international filmmakers, environmentalists, politicians, and more. 

BroadwayWorld has just learned that actor and award-winning director David Cromer completes the cast for the Broadway premiere of Academy Award winner Kenneth Lonergan's The Waverly Gallery. Cromer, who won a 2018 Tony Award for Best Director of a Musical for The Band's Visit, will play the role of 'Howard Fine.'

FX has placed a series order for Mr Inbetween, a half-hour drama series created by and starring Scott Ryan and directed by Nash Edgerton, it was announced today by Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Noah Jupe is set to star as a young Shia LaBeouf in the upcoming picture HONEY BOY. Jupe most recently starred as THE SON of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt in the new release A QUIET PLACE. Read more about the casting news from The Hollywood Reporter here!

Producer Scott Rudin announced today that Kenneth Lonergan's acclaimed memory play (and 2001 Pulitzer Prize Finalist), The Waverly Gallery, will have its Broadway premiere next season at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Preview performances will begin Tuesday, September 25, ahead of an official opening night set for Thursday, October 25, 2018.

The term 'coming of age' is used fairly broadly in films these days. Any movie that focus on a young (or youngish) character who goes through difficulties generally gets this classification. However, often those films put their protagonists through incredibly tragic circumstances to help them find one specific truth as they 'come of age.' LADY BIRD, from the mind of writer and director Greta Gerwig, is a coming of age film that avoids the emotionally manipulative deaths, assaults, and addictions that often render the genre repetitive, and instead goes with the authentic difficulties that come with every day life; a hyper-critical, passive-aggressive mother; a father who is depressed because he's lost his job; a high school girl struggling with acceptance and finding her place in her family and in the world. Instead, it is a simple and subtle masterpiece, that digs down to the humor and truth of every day eccentricities.

From writer/director Greta Gerwig comes LADY BIRD, in theaters November 10th. The all-star cast includes Broadway vets Saoirse Ronan (THE CRUCIBLE), Laurie Metcalf (A DOLL'S HOUSE PART 2, MISERY), Tracy Letts (WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?) dick clark productions announced today that Iconic Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist Mary J. Blige will receive the Hollywood Breakout Performance Actress Award for her work in Mudbound, and actor Timoth e Chalamet will be recognized for his performance in Call Me By Your Name with the Hollywood Breakout Performance Actor Award at the 21st Annual HOLLYWOOD FILM AWARDS.
