Get a glimpse into the legendary world of a?oeThe Monkey King, A Modern Musicala??, which had a developmental workshop presented by National Asian Artists Project (NAAP). The workshop took place on Thursday, Oct 3, 2019 at Actors Temple Theatre in NYC. A cast of 9 actors representative of the asian theatre community and members of NAAP, under the direction of Steven Eng, brought an explosive new musical to life at the Actors Temple Theater (339 W 47th St, New York, NY) on Oct 3.

Comedy Central today announced the official name of the highly-anticipated, Awkwafina-led series: Awkwafina is Nora From Queens. The #1 brand in comedy also announced the slate of predominantly female and diverse directors for the 10-episode series: Emmy® Award-nominated actress/director Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll), Lucia Aniello (Broad City), Jamie Babbit (But I'm a Cheerleader), The Daniels (Swiss Army Man), Steven Tsuchida (Younger) and Anu Valia (The Other Two). Currently in production in New York, Awkwafina is Nora From Queens is slated to premiere on Comedy Central in January 2020.

Based loosely on a true story, Half Time tells a classic fish-out-of-water story: a group of senior citizen dancers who audition to be halftime dancers, only to panic when they learn they have to dance hip-hop. The musical, which includes some of the last songs written by theatre legend Marvin Hamlisch, is certainly charming, but it never quite transcends the cheesiness of its material.

On Wednesday the 14th of August from 5:30 to 6:30 PM Theatre Circle, located at 268 West 44th Street, in the heart of the Theater District, will be hosting a CD signing for the original cast album of 'Half Time 'the musical.

Newly anointed Tony winner Andre De Shields capped off the theater award season by receiving the 2019 Richard Seff Award at Equity's Eastern Regional Board meeting on June 11th at Equity's office in New York.

Two River Theater presents Oo-Bla-Dee, written by Regina Taylor, featuring original lyrics by Taylor and original music by composer/orchestrator Diedre L. Murray, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Dancers Over 40 continues its 25th Anniversary season with the 10th Annual Legacy Awards and Holiday Dinner Monday, December 10, 2018. This celebration honoring our very own members will be held at LIPS Restaurant, 227 East 56th Street 6 – 9pm and hosted by Drama Desk Award Winner Jim Brochu. There will be guest speakers and performances by entertainer/activist and member of the NYC Nightlife Advisory Board Marti Gould Cummings, along with the always wonderfully delicious full-course meal.

America's Got Talent's Jeffrey Li made his musical theater debut in the developmental reading of Lainie Sakakura (producer/book) and Paul Fujimoto's (music/lyrics) CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET, a musical adaptation of The New York Times Best Selling novel, HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET by Jamie Ford at The Playroom Theater in New York on September 17.
