Today, the full list of nominees for the “53rd NAACP Image Awards” were announced. Nominees included Ariana DeBose, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Encanto, Cynthia Erivo, Audra McDonald, Respect, Taraji P. Three dozen of the best from Broadway and the entertainment industry saluted the one-year anniversary of RWQuarantunes, a pandemic-inspired series of invite-only online concerts, by coming together Sunday, April 11, 2021, for a five-hour celebration of Broadway and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Broadway Backwards, the annual event where gender doesn't matter but love does, made its virtual premiere earlier this week with special appeals from Chasten Buttigieg, Ariana DeBose, Debra Messing, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tony Shalhoub and Ben Vereen. The stream will be available on demand through 11:59pm tonight, April 3.

The virtual edition of Broadway Backwards delivered an emotional and exuberant evening of performances and raised a record $749,555 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

Following the week-long virtual experience, tonight the NAACP celebrated the stellar achievements of the 52nd NAACP Image Awards winners during a special LIVE broadcast on BET and simulcast across ViacomCBS networks including CBS for its first time, as well as BET Her, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Paramount, Pop, Smithsonian, TV Land, VH1, BET PLUTO, and CMT.

Broadway Backwards, the annual event where gender doesn’t matter but love does, is set to make its virtual premiere this Tuesday, March 30, 2021, with special appeals from Chasten Buttigieg, Ariana DeBose, Debra Messing, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tony Shalhoub and Ben Vereen.

A cavalcade of beloved Broadway, television and film stars have joined the roster of performers for the virtual edition of Broadway Backwards, the show where gender doesn’t matter but love does. The stream premieres at 8 pm Eastern on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.  

This year’s festival will bring a hybrid of selected live events and screenings along with the virtual screening of 300+ films that include an incredible variety of feature and short length dramas, thrillers, comedies, documentaries, student films, foreign films, videos and web series, music, and more!

The full-list of nominees for the 52nd NAACP Image Awards were announced today in a special virtual event on NAACP Image Awards’ Instagram channel hosted by Tony-award winning actress and singer Anika Noni-Rose, actress and singer Chloe Bailey, actress Erika Alexander, actor, dancer, and choreographer Nicco Annan, and actor and singer TC Carson.

Stars in the House continues tonight (8pm) with everything Effie with DREAMGIRLS Lillias White, Roz Ryan and Kecia-Lewis Evans.

On this day in 1981, the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls opened on Broadway starring Jennifer Holliday, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Loretta DeVine, and more. 

Today the NAACP announced that the 52nd NAACP Image Awards will broadcast live on BET Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 8:00 PM ET.
