NBC to Present ABBA: THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC, AN ALL-STAR TRIBUTE This December

Paying homage to one of the most influential groups of all time, NBC is celebrating Sweden's most popular export with 'ABBA: Thank You for the Music, An All-Star Tribute.' The two-hour special, set to air in December, will showcase specially invited artists performing classic songs made famous by ABBA, including 'Dancing Queen', 'Mamma Mia', The Winner Takes It All' and 'Take A Chance On Me'.

For one night only, Montalvo Arts Center will transform into the iconic Parisian night club Moulin Rouge for its biennial fundraising gala, Moulin Montalvo: A Gala Night in Montmartre. The evening will include a variety of dazzling surprises as guests are invited to mingle with colorful artists and can-can dancers, savor sumptuous cuisine by Le Papillon paired with paired with Champagne Taittinger and sophisticated French vintages, and dance the night away in the historic Villa. A highlight of the evening will be a high-spirited live auction, featuring once-in-a-lifetime experience packages. Proceeds from this black-tie event will go to support the Center's artistic and educational programming efforts and ongoing mission to engage the community in the creative process. Moulin Montalvo will take place Saturday, June 16 at 5:30pm at Montalvo Arts Center, 15400 Montalvo Rd, Saratoga. For musicians of all stripes, performing on the show was the pinnacle of television opportunities, with singular star-making potential. Among the artists vaulted to new heights of stardom via history-making appearances were The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Temptations, and The Supremes, all of whom returned to 'The Ed Sullivan Show' several times after electrifying debut performances on the program.

Chiara String Quartet to Give New York premiere of Philip Glass' Piano Quintet at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

On Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2pm the Chiara String Quartet (Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; Gregory Beaver, cello) will give its final major performance presented by MetLiveArts in Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 5th Avenue). This culminating concert, celebrating 18 years together, is centered around the New York premiere of Philip Glass' Piano Quintet “Annunciation,” with pianist Paul Barnes.  The Chiara String Quartet opens the program with Nico Muhly's Diacritical Marks, written for them in 2011, and concludes with Beethoven's String Quartet in A minor, Op.132—one of the composer's most poignant final works.

Marquis and Tru, both 14 and black, meet one evening in the holding cell of a police station. Marquis is a Nietzsche-loving prep-schooler, adopted by white people and living in the affluent suburb of AchievementHeights; while Tru is a super smart, Tupac loving, kid from central Baltimore. Tru decides Marquis has lost his blackness and pens a how-to manual for him entitled 'Being Black for Dummies.' They navigate through both Marquis' world of cheerleaders, jocks, headmasters and Tru's world in Baltimore all while they debate, struggle and ultimately develop a friendship that reveals that maybe Tupac and Nietzsche were saying the same thing all along. 'Hooded, or Being Black for Dummies' is a comedic and truthful examination of growing up black in America by rising-star playwright Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm.

92nd Street Y inaugurates three engaging new series - Chamber Orchestras, a Vocal Series, and Garrick Ohlsson: Brahms Exploration - ushering in a host of original concepts, artists, compositions, and collaborations, in keeping with 92Y's enduring traditions of cultural discovery, intellectual curiosity, and artistic experimentation.  Additionally, 92Y commences Inflection, its first interdisciplinary festival, a six-concert exploration of music in relation to other art forms, including spoken word, photography, sculpture, and dance.  This season also features the World Premieres of Phyllis's Portrait by Sergio Assad and Jonathan Berger's new opera Leonardo, the US premiere of a symphony by Hans Rott, the New York premieres of Wynton Marsalis's new work for solo violin, a new string quartet by Martin Bresnick, and Andreia Pinto Correia's String Quartet No. 1 "Unvanquished Space"; five major international artists making their 92Y performance debuts: Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov, German cellist Alban Gerhardt, Bulgarian violinist Gergana Gergova, the Danish String Quartet, and the Artemis String Quartet; several young musicians also give their 92Y debut performances in the pristine acoustics of Buttenwieser Hall for the Soundspace Series: Jessica Xylina Osborne, Einav Yarden, Conrad Tao (with violinist Stefan Jackiw), the Horszowski Trio, Juho Pohjonen, and Orion Weiss.

In addition to the 20 - concert program subscription s eason, the CSO will present a one - night - only, all - orchestral gala performance on September 22 with Mr. Langree on the conducting podium that kicks off the fall arts season in Cincinnati.
