Thomas self-produced The Other and brought in Shawn Everett (War On Drugs, Alabama Shakes) to assist with the mixing process. No less hooky than previous records, the new songs ditch the goofy rock-and-roll bacchanalia narratives of earlier records in favor of expansive arrangements, a diversity of instrumentation, and lyrics that straddle the fence between painful ruminations and reconnecting with that part of yourself that feels childlike and creative and not corroded by cynicism. Mipso Release New Video For SERVANT TO IT
by Tori Hartshorn
- May 2, 2018
North Carolina's beloved Americana band Mipso have released an official video for 'Servant To It,' a track from their recently released acclaimed album Edges Run. Premiering with Culture Collide, the video shows the behind-the-scenes dynamic and shenanigans of the band on the road. Mipso's Libby Rodenbough (vocals, fiddle, songwriter) describes, 'There's a romantic myth about artists that doesn't square with the banal kind of privilege it usually takes to be one publicly. 'Servant To It' is a wink at that myth. This video is a portrait of our reality as working musicians. Jacob Blumberg, the creator, came out on the road with us on a recent run down through the Deep South, and he put together a ton of material-disposable camera stills, old VHS camcorder footage, etc.-in a way that conveys the fun and silliness and strangeness and madness of touring.'
Chicago Psych Rockers Secret Colours Share DREAM DREAM Video Via Baeble Music
by Tori Hartshorn
- Apr 11, 2018

'Fun, cartoonish graphics flash on the screen over a peachy pink wall and plants. The Chicago-based band members are all donning retro sunglasses and simply having fun playing their instruments as the 70s-inspired psychedelic vibe takes lead of the song. Not only are they colorful visually, but it's a colorful song, with ferocious, vivid guitar hooks and infectious vocals. Also, the band might sound familiar - seven of their songs were featured in Shameless. No big deal,' says Baeble Music. Watch the video here!
