Lin-Manuel Miranda appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to plug his new book Gmorning, Gnight!

North Carolina Theatre, the region's premiere nonprofit professional theatre, presents its first production of the 2018-19 season, Lin-Manuel Miranda's In the Heights, playing Oct. 16-21 at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.

Birdland Theater announces that Broadway singer/dancer Ariana DeBose will perform in concert on Monday, November 5 at 8:30pm. 

Girl Be Heard, a social justice theatre company that develops, honors and amplifies the voices of young women, will honor two trailblazing women: Mandy Gonzalez, star of Hamilton and In the Heights, and Sayu Bhojwani, founder of New American Leaders, with Girl Be Heard's prestigious Fairy Godmother Award at their fun-filled gala at 26 Bridge Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn on Monday, October 22nd at 6pm.

Producer Mark Cortale has announced a star-studded lineup for the sixth season of his celebrated Broadway @ NOCCA concert series in New Orleans. Three of Broadway's biggest names will share the marquee with one of opera's premiere stars in 2018-19.

Ars Nova, "one of the most adventurous Off-Broadway companies" (New York Times), under the leadership of Founding Artistic Director Jason Eagan and Managing Director Renee Blinkwolt, will host Over/Under Unplugged, a free concert series following select Friday evening performances of Andrew R. Butler's Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of The Future. Concerts will feature performers from The Future and special guests performing unplugged and up close. They'll #playforchange with any donations dropped in their bucket going to select charities including the National Network of Abortion Funds, The Trevor Project, and The National Eating Disorders Association.

From stage to screen, Broadway will be represented on TV for the week of October 15, 2018!

Desperate to avoid conviction, she tricks the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, Billy Flynn, to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. And Detroit, there's an extra special surprise in store for us - Youtube sensation and Broadway star, Todrick Hall is reprising the role of Billy Flynn here in Detroit for one week only! BroadwayWorld Detroit had a chance to speak with Todrick Hall about stepping back into the world of Chicago, what he loves about theatre, and what's next for him. From October 16th-21st, North Carolina Theatre will be opening their 2018-19 season with a production of Lin-Manuel Miranda & Quiara Alegria Hudes' 2008 award-winning musical, In the Heights, at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. I was recently able to get in touch with two of the cast members, Genny Lis Padilla and David Guzman.

Are you destined to be in the In the Heights movie. No Me Diga! This could be your lucky day. Warner Bros. has just put out a casting call for digital submissions for the upcoming film, which begins filming in summer 2019. 

Today, just in time for their show's opening, two cast members - Jason Scott, who plays the self-involved Chip Tolentino, and Jena Salb, who is cast as former champion Rona Lisa Peretti, step up to the microphone to answer our Thursday 5(+1) questions and to offer the suggestion that a revival of Legally Blonde: The Musical might be a good consideration for next season at The Keeton.

Following the drop of his single “Vanity”, Utkarsh Ambudkar releases his animated music video for “Rufio”. The track is an epic collaboration with Lin- Manuel Miranda, Dante Basco (yes, Rufio from Hook!), and The Olympicks, and the video is directed by Tayen Kim. “Rufio” shines a light on being an outcast, race, the first generation immigrant experience, politics, Hollywood and more with his raw and melodic hip-hop sound.
