The Bushwick Starr is thrilled to kick off our 10th Anniversary Season with Raja Feather Kelly's UGLY, a new piece created by award-winning choreographer and performer, Raja Feather Kelly, who's most recent work includes The House That Will Not Stand directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz (New York Theatre Workshop), A Strange Loop directed by Michael R. Jackson (Playwright Horizons), and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' Everybody directed by Lila Neugebauer (Signature Theatre).

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) (Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director Jeremy Blocker) announced today a one-week extension for the New York Premiere of The House That Will Not Stand by Marcus Gardley (X: Or, Betty Shabazz v. The Nation), directed by NYTW Usual Suspect and Obie Award winner Lileana Blain-Cruz (Red Speedo; Pipeline). The House That Will Not Stand began previews on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, and opened Monday, July 30 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003). Originally set to close on Sunday, August 12, The House That Will Not Stand will now run through Sunday, August 19, 2018.

The Lortel Awards will be presented on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST. Quiara Alegria Hudes is a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright who wrote the book for the Broadway musical "In the Heights," which received the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical, a Tony nomination for Best Book of a Musical and was a 2009 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Her Pulitzer-nominated and winning trilogy of plays known as the "Elliot Trilogy" are now being presented concurrently, giving Los Angeles theatre audiences a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in this exciting playwright's work. ELLIOT, A SOLDIER'S FUGUE, the first in her trilogy of Elliot plays, is being produced by Center Theatre Group at the Kirk Douglas Theatre at the same time they are presenting the second play in the trilogy, Hudes' Pulitzer-winning WATER BY THE SPOONFUL at the Mark Taper Forum. The Latino Theater Company will present the final installment of the trilogy with their production of THE HAPPIEST SONG PLAYS LAST at the Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC) opening later this month.
Spanish Language Open Captioned Performances Announced at CTG

Center Theatre Group will offer Spanish-language translations of the 1 p.m. performance of "Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue" on Sunday, February 25 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre and the 8 p.m. performance of "Water by the Spoonful" on Friday, March 9 at the Mark Taper Forum. Each show will be performed in English with Spanish translations running simultaneously on open captioned screens. Audience members wishing to view the open captions should request to be seated in the captioning area when purchasing tickets.

The Fellowships honor their creative accomplishments and support their ongoing artistic and professional development, however the recipients choose to spend them.
