The National Tour of Anastasia had its official opening night in Schenectady, New York earlier this month and BroadwayWorld has an exclusive look inside their opening night cast party!

Figures dancing gracefully, costumes sparkling magnificently, and revolution brewing eminently - all this and more compose the first scene of the beloved musical Anastasia, the story of the Russian princes title character journeying to her past to remember who she was, and in the process, discovering who she is.

Take the journey! The North American tour of the critically-acclaimed Broadway production of ANASTASIA will launch at Proctors in Schenectady, NY on October 9, 2018 and will go on to play 30 cities in its first season. This production features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush, new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and direction by Tony Award-winning director Darko Tresnjak.

Take the journey! Casting has been announced for the North American tour of the critically-acclaimed Broadway production of ANASTASIA. Amas Musical Theatre(Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will present further staged readings of Play It by Heart, a new musical, with music by David Spangler, Jerry Taylorand Marty Dodson, lyrics byDavid Spangler, Jerry Taylor,R.T. Robinson, and Marty Dodson, and book byWilly Holtzman. Directed by Daniel Goldsteinwith music direction by Andrew Wilder, the readings (by invitation only) will be held on Thursday, May 17 at 1pm and 5pm at Opry City Stage (48th/49th& Broadway).

Crystal Bowersox, the American Idol season nine (2010) runner-up has been announced to join the cast of the Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab staged readings of Play It by Heart, a new musical, with music by David Spangler, Jerry Taylor and Marty Dodson, lyrics by David Spangler, Jerry Taylor, R.T. Robinson, and Marty Dodson, and book by Willy Holtzman.

The Syracuse Stage cast of Hairspray will sing on the first level of the Canyon Area of Destiny USA on Saturday, November 8 at 2 p.m. Presented in partnership with iHeart Media (formerly Clear Channel), the cast will be introduced by A.J. from Hot 107.9. Adding to the festivities, November 8 is the first full day that Santa will be at Destiny USA to meet and take photos with children, also in the Canyon Area.
