The Tony Award-winning play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child celebrates 1,000 performances on Broadway this Saturday, May 13th at the evening performance.

The Czech National Ballet in Prague will stage an adaptation of the ballet La Sylphide by Johan Kobborg, a Bournonville connoisseur.

Cleveland Play House will bring its 2022-2023 season to a close with the world premiere production of Ken Ludwig's Moriarty: A New Sherlock Holmes Adventure. Running April 29 through May 21 in the Allen Theatre at Playhouse Square.

Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (May 19–June 10), one of opera's most beloved works, receives its first new Met staging in 19 years from acclaimed English director Simon McBurney. In his Met debut, McBurney lets loose a volley of theatrical flourishes, incorporating projections, aerial and sound effects, physical comedy, a hovering platform, and acrobatics to match the spectacle and drama of Mozart's work. Maestro Nathalie Stutzmann—having made her Met debut earlier this season with Don Giovanni—performs Mozart double duty leading both productions running simultaneously. With the pit raised, the Met Orchestra musicians will interact with the cast. Gareth Morrell conducts the May 27 performance.

The Lion King will play its 10,000th performance on Broadway this Saturday evening, May 6th.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has announced that its Board of Trustees has unanimously selected Hana Sharif, Augustin Family Artistic Director of The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, as its next Artistic Director.
