Urban Stages Frances Hill, Artistic Director and Antoinette Mullins Literary Manager announce selections for the December play readings.

Urban Stages (Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director), will extend their acclaimed production of Idris Goodwin's Bars and Measures, directed by Kristan Seemel. This limited engagement at Urban Stages (259 West 30th Street) has been extended to run through November 17. The Flea Theater hosted a Mac Wellman Symposium: THE ART OF STACKING THE DECK October 4-6, 2019. The three-day symposium was a rare opportunity for Wellman enthusiasts to gather to share stories and dig deep into the mysteries of Wellman's writing.

The Flea Theater presents Mac Wellman: Perfect Catastrophes, A Festival of Plays featuring full productions of five works by Wellman a?" including the World Premiere of the full-length play The Invention of Tragedy and the premiere of a new one-act titled The Fez.

Maned Wolf Productions presents its inaugural production with a new work, Long Distance Drunk, in the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre August 19th - August 21st, 2016. The play is written by Corey Pajka, and is directed by Kristan Seemel an Associate Artist and director at the The Flea Theatre.

The Flea Theater has announced the World Premiere of Mallery Avidon's MARY-KATE OLSEN IS IN LOVE. This satire about love and growing-up and "being real" will be directed by Flea Resident Director Kristen Seemel and feature members of The Bats. Previews begin November 1 with opening slated for November 18. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, "this witty and wise play by on-the-rise writer Mallery Avidon tackles the notion of love, sex and marriage and the challenges of 20-somethings who think they know how to have it all."

Shannon Sindelar, producing artistic director of Brooklyn's acclaimed Brave New World Repertory Theatre (BNW),today announced the launch of New Works, a new initiative featuring staged readings of new plays by emerging Brooklyn playwrights. Four plays have been selected for staged readings during the season and the first one is Captain Mike, by Gary Winter.

Since its founding in 1998, Soho Rep's Writer/Director Lab has fostered the development of emerging playwrights and directors, providing mentorship and resources for their new theatrical works. From April 1 through May 13, the organization will present public readings of the fruits of this year's Lab, the 15th in Soho Rep's history.

The Flea Theater will continue it's tradition of late-night offerings with The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet. Five teams of actors helmed by five Flea Resident Directors each perform an act from Shakespeare's most tragic love story. Cast from The Flea resident acting company, The Bats, Romeo and Juliet follows the inaugural Shakes, The Honest Whore by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton. The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet will be performed in one-act installments until the play is complete.
