Deborah Grace Winer was certainly on the right track last night as she hosted her latest creative musical adventure 'New York: Big City Songbook' at the new Birdland Theater. Deborah is well known to New Yorkers for the imaginative and quality presentations she produced for the Lyrics & Lyricists Series at the 92Y, which she led for 9 seasons. It's difficult to construct a show for New Yorkers about New York, we've seen it all…haven't we? but this smart show with vocalists Klea Blackhurst, La Tanya Hall and Nicolas King (real New Yorkers because as Deborah pointed out they come from everywhere) offered a kaleidoscopic vision of life in the city.
On the cusp of their 40th anniversary, the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps is proud to present their holiday concert, Home for the Holidays,on December 15th, 2018, at Symphony Space on the Upper West Side. Repertoire for this concert was chosen entirely by the band's members and includes a diverse selection of pieces that remind them of holidays at home.
Just last night, Mark William made his solo nightclub debut at The Green Room 42 with the world premiere of 'Come Croon With Me.' Putting his own unique, youthful spin on golden age crooner styling, Mark performed a collection of classic tunes from Broadway and The Great American Songbook. With his sophisticated approach, he glided from Jerry Herman to Peter Allen to Henry Mancini with charismatic ease and a spring in his step.
Singer Lynn Henderson just announced the addition of a very special guest for the final performance of her show, A Skitch in Time: My Friendship with Maestro Skitch Henderson. The show is a tribute to the New York Pops founder who built the Pops from an idea to a beloved international institution. For the November 17th performance at Don't Tell Mama, 2018 Grammy nominee and New York Pops Violinist, Sara Caswell, will appear. Sara is a Skitch Henderson discovery who joined the Pops right out of college.

Acclaimed singer/pianist Billy Stritch returned to the Birdland Theater stage on Wednesday, October 17, with two shows. The Grammy-nominated performer entertained with a selection of jazz, popular standards and bossa nova by a range of songwriters including Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen, Michel Legrand and the Bergmans, and Brazilian composers Antonio Carlos Jobim and Ivan Lins.

For three decades, the unofficial launch of 'autumn in New York' has been marked by the annual Cabaret Convention of The Mabel Mercer Foundation. This year, their four individual concerts will once again be presented at 6 p.m. at the Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Today, October 9thand running through Friday, October 12th. More than seventy diverse vocalists -- ranging in age from seventeen to ninety -- are scheduled to entertain; thirteen of these will make their New York Cabaret Convention debuts during the 2018 performances.
