Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps Comes Home For The Holidays

On the cusp of their 40th anniversary, the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps is proud to present their holiday concert, Home for the Holidays,on December 15th, 2018, at Symphony Space on the Upper West Side. Repertoire for this concert was chosen entirely by the band's members and includes a diverse selection of pieces that remind them of holidays at home.

Music director Henco Espag will lead the band on a memory-filled journey with perennial holiday classics, such as Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Rideand some newer, member favorites including Stephen Melillo's Festival of Light, a celebration of Chanukah.

The band will also host two special guests. Broadway singer Klea Blackhurst will take the stage with the LGBAC to sing Santa Baby, and New York City's favorite weatherman Raphael Miranda will narrate Randol Alan Bass's playful The Night Before Christmas.

Additional pieces on the program include Imani, by Sean O'laughlin, Greensleeves (Traditional, arr. Alfred Reed), Mvmt. V, "Trepak," from Tchaikovsky'sNutcracker Suite, a jazzy rendition (!) of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Holiday Celebration, a medley arranged by Larry McTaggart.
