The New Deal Creative Arts Center will present its 2nd Annual Pride Production as a live reading of The Laramie Project: An Online Benefit Performance to take place on Friday, June 19th at 7pm.

In collaboration with Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, The New Deal Creative Arts Center presents its 2nd Annual Pride Production as a live reading of The Laramie Project: An Online Benefit Performance to take place on Friday, June 19th at 7pm. 

Rabbit Hole, written by David Lindsay-Abaire, tells the story of a mother and father stricken with unending grief after the accidental death of their four year old son; theirs is a reality that isn't fair or deserved, but must simply be dealt with. With this play,Lindsay-Abaire carefully deconstructs the overall larger picture of 'grief' into smaller moments, bringing to light how each of those involved finds solace in their own way. And as emotional a ride Rabbit Hole brings the audience on, we somehow begin to understand how people cope with something that can never be explained - only accepted until the pain isn't as great as it used to be.

The Sherman Playhouse will be producing The Graduate as their Spring production. The production is directed by Susan Abrams of New Milford. Her past credits as director include The Guys and Enchanted April at the Playhouse, Talk Radio at Theatreworks New Milford and Female Transport at Phoenix Stage.

The Sherman Playhouse will be performing Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitzstarting July 6. The plot revolves around a daughter that returns home for Christmas for the first time in years, bearing the manuscript of a memoir, which reveals a devastating episode in the life of her wealthy Republican family. The events, years in the past, emotionally ravaged the daughter; disturbed the upbringing of the younger son, a child when the events happened; opened a schism between the mother and her sister; and shattered the orderly lives of the parents, causing their ostracism from an intimate circle of friends, which included President and Mrs. Reagan. The play is powerful, passionate and superbly crafted.
