Capital Stage embarks on new avenues of growth in hiring its first Development Manager, Kirk Blackinton, whose key role will be to build and maintain fundraising efforts, campaigns and relationships with the greater Sacramento community. Kirk Blackinton is a co-founder of Big Idea Theatre and has worked with Capital Stage since 2011 in various roles such as actor and director.
Capital Stage presents the Sacramento Premiere of The Other Place by Sharr White. Producing Artistic Director Michael Stevenson will direct the Sacramento Premiere, and will feature local favorites Melinda Parrett and Capital Stage Co-Founder Jonathan Rhys Williams. Performances will run from May 1 through June 2, 2019 with a Press Opening on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 8 pm.

Capital Stage presents the Sacramento Premiere of the Award Winning Play The Nether by Jennifer Haley. This haunting sci-fi thriller explores the dark side of the internet, and of human behaviour. The Nether will be Kirk Blackinton's Capital Stage directing debut and is the fourth production of Capital Stage's 2017/18 Season. Performances will run from January 24 - February 25, 2018 with a Press Opening on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 8:00 pm.
As a part of its mission to develop new plays and playwrights, Capital Stage presents its ninth annual new works festival PLAYWRIGHTS REVOLUTION. This year Capital Stage's reading committee reviewed over 350 script submissions from playwrights across the world. This week's festival features the four finalists. From July 25 - 28 these plays will be presented at staged readings by local professional actors and directors at the Capital Stage studios in the E. Claire Raley Studios for the Performing Arts.
