Capital Stage Company Announces IN THE NEXT ROOM... Cast

By:

Capital Stage Company will kick-off 2012 with the Sacramento premiere of Sarah Ruhl's acclaimed Broadway comedy In the Next Room or the vibrator play, running from January 25 - February 26, 2012.

It's the 1880's and for the wife of eminent scientist and inventor Dr Givings, the vagaries of the medical field have never held much allure. Until now. Nominated for both the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize, In the Next Room was a resounding hit when it opened on Broadway in 2009 and solidified playwright Sarah Ruhl's reputation as one of America's most exciting contemporary writers. A sensitive study of the relationship between physical connection and emotional intimacy, In the Next Room or the vibrator play is an utterly beguiling play about love, longing, science and invention.

Actors Michael Stevenson and Elana Wright (The Scene) will lead the cast as Dr. and Mrs. Givings. They are joined by Sacramento favorites Katie Rubin (Hunter Gatherers, Speech & Debate) and Greg Alexander, as well as Capital Stage newcomers Victoria Alvarez-Chacon, Kirk Blackinton and Shannon Mahoney.

Capital Stage co-founder Peter Mohrmann (Or,, Fiction, Dinner With Friends) will direct this Sacramento premiere production. The design team includes
Stephen C. Jones (set), Gail Russell (costumes), and Les Solomon (lighting).
