Florida Grand Opera has announced the confirmation of Maria Todaro as General Director. Todaro, who has been serving as the Interim General Director since October 2023, was unanimously nominated by the FGO Board of Directors with a three year contract in recognition of her outstanding performance and visionary leadership.

Before trick-or-treating begins, start the fun this October with Seattle Opera's "riotously funny" (The Australian) The Barber of Seville. Following The Wicked Adventures of County Ory ('16), stage director Lindy Hume and Maestro Giacomo Sagripanti return to create yet another colorful, eye-catching production with toe-tapping melodies-including one of the most iconic overtures of all time. The performance also includes an appearance by Juilliard-trained burlesque sensation, Marc Kenison, who performs in Seattle and beyond as Waxie Moon. Kenison will bring his comedic and dance stylings to the highly physical role of Ambrogio.
Opera is for everyone-and so is Seattle Opera's 2017/18 season! There's a new bilingual performance for elementary-school students, new performance venues such as Georgetown Steam Plant, a new mainstage collaboration with ACT Theatre and Seattle Symphony leaders, and even an outdoor performance offered free of charge. Rosina is essentially being held captive by the slimy Bartolo, who wants to marry her himself. With the help of the barber Figaro, Almaviva and Rosina attempt to outwit Bartolo and live happily ever after. THE BARBER OF SEVILLE is the perfect introductory opera. It features recognizable music, comedic staging, fun costumes and a happy ending. You will love the amazing ensemble cast – which includes two former Resident Artists with tremendous personalities, Kevin Glavin and Jonathan Beyer – and the Pittsburgh debut of Michele Angelini, who has received superlative reviews around the world in his role. Now it its 19th season, Crested Butte Music Festival (CBMF) continues its bold new approach in presenting music that is elevating, entertaining and transforming. Opera In Paradise (July 15-26), one of four 'mini' festivals taking place during the Festival, is no exception, as some of the biggest names on the opera world, along with top-tier emerging talent through CBMF's acclaimed training program, the Crested Butte Opera Studio, join the Festival for a six-week residency.
