Next month, FEINSTEIN’S/54 BELOW, Broadway’s Supper Club & Private Event Destination, will present some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond.

With cooling temperatures comes a return to fall seasons and activities at Seattle Center. September offers a range of arts, entertainment and educational opportunities across the grounds and online.  

A collection of talented musicians will entertain with a variety of genres ranging from folk-rock to fiddle tunes to country and more. Patrons are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for use on the grass.

I was able to catch three of the documentary highlights from this year’s festival.

Wu Man, “the world's finest player of the pipa” (The New York Times), is joined by one of her Silkroad Ensemble bandmates, shakuhachi virtuoso Kojiro Umezaki, on a new album, Flow (流芳), released by In a Circle Records (ICR). The album is currently available for pre-order on Bandcamp (digital and physical) and will be available Friday, February 19, through Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, and other major outlets.

Notables from President Bill Clinton and Whoopi Goldberg to musicians Wynton Marsalis and Sting joined together on Sunday, Jan 24th to “Save Birdland”.  During the fundraising concert the Broadway community was treated to “All That Jazz” starring the original Velmas of Chicago, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth.

Former President Bill Clinton, Tony Award-winner Leslie Odom, Jr., Tony-nominee Jeff Daniels, Clive Davis, Elvis Costello, and more have signed on for a concert fundraiser to save iconic New York venue Birdland.

For the last three-quarters of a century, in the world of bluegrass music, one thing has always been certain; the cream rises to the top. And it didn't take long for International Bluegrass Music Association Award-winner Justin Moses to rise to his now prestigious status as one of the finest multi-instrumentalists in acoustic music.
