Casting is complete for SUMMER SHORTS 2017, produced by Throughline Artists at 59E59 Theaters. SUMMER SHORTS 2017 begins on Friday, July 21 and runs through Saturday, September 2.

Directed by Daniel Sullivan, Troilus and Cressida had its official opening on August 9, 2016. This is the second of three productions in the 2016 Shakespeare in the Park season, which is produced by The Public Theater.

The Public Theater recently announced that Louis Cancelmi, last seen as Caliban in the Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest, had stepped into the company of Troilus and Cressida as Achilles, replacing David Harbour, who suffered an injury during previews and will be unable to complete the run. The play celebrates its opening tonight, August 9, after a short delay.

Directed by Daniel Sullivan, TROILUS AND CRESSIDA began performances on Tuesday, July 19 and will run through Sunday, August 14, with an official press opening on Tuesday, August 9. .

I was intrigued as soon as I heard that Director Eve Muson was bringing the show to a professional company. My sense was that Muson felt she could build a better product on the same platform of stars, costume and set. She was right. The end product is a modern historical tragedy that obviously speaks directly to contemporary racial and gender issues but also past them to the human condition, as all great tragedy does.
