Wise Music Group has signed a long-term agreement with Portuguese composer Vasco Mendonça. Mendonça joins the roster of Éditions Alphonse Leduc alongside Betsy Jolas, Henri Dutilleux, Jacques Ibert, André Jolivet, Elsa Barraine, Olivier Messiaen, Germaine Tailleferre, Nadia Boulanger and Francis Poulenc.

The Royal Opera House today announces the 2022 programme for its annual Engender Festival. With 10 events, performances and workshops across the week, the festival brings together pioneering creatives and writers in both the opera world and the UK's wider creative industries.

The Royal Opera presents The Blue Woman – a new, political opera exploring the psychological aftermath of sexual violence experienced by women. Composed by Laura Bowler, directed by Katie Mitchell, and with a libretto by Laura Lomas, the work opens on Wednesday 6 July in the Linbury Theatre, and invites a conversation about how the art form deals with the topic of violence against women.
