Review: & JULIET Is Revisionist, Gleeful Fun at OC's Segerstrom Center

Fresh off its sit-down engagement at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre, the new(-ish) 2022 Broadway jukebox musical & JULIET is finally making its long-awaited pit-stop an hour south of L.A. at OC's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through September 21, 2025. Unabashedly gleeful and quite a broad crowd-pleaser, this fun, empowering, and infectiously giddy musical is, simply put, such an endearing, delightful surprise. Featuring thrilling visuals, a uniformly talented, likable cast, a wonderfully silly yet still aspirational premise, and a long list of ear worm bops that weave seamlessly into its organized mayhem, this entertaining tongue-in-cheek stage show is, hands down, this reviewer’s favorite touring direct-from-Broadway production of 2025 so far by a mile.

Review: & JULIET at Ahmanson Theatre

& JULIET proves rather emphatically that nobody really needs an original idea or song when you can just as easily get folks rocking out to Britney Spears or Katy Perry.

Review: & JULIET at Keller Auditorium

Whether you're a Shakespeare devotee, a musical theater lover, or simply someone who believes in the transformative power of love and second chances, & JULIET delivers.

Review: & JULIET at The Paramount Theatre

Dear Readers, you should know by now my disdain for the Juke Box Musical. But, as egregious as they can be (I’m looking at you “Flashdance, The Musical”), sometimes they manage to pull it off. And why? A good book and songs lovingly curated to fit the story and not jammed in. It’s really that simple. “Mamma Mia” and “Beautiful” are two wonderful examples as is “& Juliet”, currently playing at the Paramount Theatre. So, let’s discuss a few things. First, why this Juke Box Musical works so amazingly well. And second, the power of the understudy.

Review: & JULIET at Orpheum Theatre

Witty, funny, flashy, and eye-popping, & Juliet rides the wave of phenomenally successful jukebox musicals and succeeds not only with the familiarity of the pop songs it includes, but by its remarkably well-written book

Review: Fizzy & JULIET is Heart-Bursting at the Eccles Theater

The national tour of & JULIET, currently playing at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City, is a fizzy, heart-bursting celebration of love and empowerment via the enduring power of pop music. From the first beat to the last, it carries with it a full gamut of emotion from despair to elation and everything in between.

Review: & JULIET at Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis

What happens if Juliet doesn’t die at the end of Romeo & Juliet? That’s the bold (and surprisingly heartwarming) premise behind & Juliet, now playing at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis through May 18. This energetic, genre-bending musical takes Shakespeare’s tragic heroine and gives her a second act—one where she gets to live, love, and belt out pop hits from the likes of Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and the Backstreet Boys.

Review: & JULIET at Des Moines Performing Arts

On Tuesday, '& Juliet' opened, and the show is a new type of Jukebox musical.  One where the story comes first, and the music is an enhancement of the story. See here for the review!

Review: & JULIET at the Aronoff Center

The first national Broadway tour of & Juliet exemplifies an unmatched energy that keeps its audiences invested, rivaling the NYC Broadway company in quality. Rachel Simone Webb is a supernova as Juliet Capulet.

Review: & JULIET Rewrites a Classic in Rhode Island

& Juliet is a reimagining of the Romeo and Juliet story where — rather than kill herself —Juliet reconsiders her hasty relationship with Romeo, and instead goes off on an adventure with her friends. This show features the songs of Swedish super producer/ songwriter Max Martin, who may not be a known name to everyone, but who has been responsible for most of the most popular songs of the past 20 years including hits from Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Katy Perry.

Review: & JULIET at The Kennedy Center

With a clever script, beloved music, and strong teams both on and off the stage, '& Juliet' is an incredibly witty, thoughtful, and joyful show, and the National Tour’s run at the Kennedy Center is the perfect way to cap off the year.

Review: & JULIET at Shea's Buffalo Theatre

Everything old is new again. That saucy playwright William Shakespeare continues to ignite audience's imagination, with two separate shows in Buffalo this month alone. But wait, not really his own plays, but plays based on the Bard's own writing. SOMETHING ROTTEN at Musicalfare has would be competitors trying to out-write him, while & JULIET, now playing at Shea's, aims to pit Mrs. Shakespeare (Anne Hathaway) against her own husband to write a better version of ROMEO AND JULIET.
