It was announced today that Four-time Oscar®-nominated actor Ethan Hawke has signed on the New Orleans-set heist movie CUT THROAT CITY, directed by RZA (of the Wu Tang Clan). The film also stars Terrence Howard, Wesley Snipes, Eiza González, Kat Graham, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Joel David Moore, Isiah Washington, Keean Johnson, Sam Daly, Denzel Whitaker, Rob Morgan, Rich Paul, Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Shameik Moore. Nickelodeon, the number-one network for kids, announced today that RISE of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the reimagined 2D-animated series, has been greenlit for a second season with 26 episodes. The action-comedy follows the band of brothers, Raph, Leo, Donnie and Mikey, as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. Season two will begin production this fall at Nickelodeon's headquarters in Burbank, Calif.

According to Variety, Ben Robson has joined “Emperor,” the Civil War-abolitionist film directed former Lionsgate exec Mark Amin under his Sobini Films banner.
Sobini Films announced today that Oscar®-nominee James Cromwell, two-time Oscar®-nominee Bruce Dern and award-winning actress Naturi Naughton have joined Dayo Okeniyi in the cast in the Civil War-era EMPEROR, directed by Mark Amin, the veteran producer and former Vice Chairman of Lionsgate. Harry Lennix, Kat Graham, Ben Robson and Keean Johnson have also joined to round out the cast. Cromwell and Dern will play John Brown and Levi Coffin, respectively, two of the great heroes of the American abolitionist movement. Naughton plays the role of "Sarah Green," the wife of abolitionist and runaway slave Shields Green. The film is produced by Reginald Hudlin for Hudlin Entertainment and by Cami Winikoff and Amin for Sobini, with a script co-written by Amin and Pat Charles. Sobini's Tyler Boehm is executive producing. UTA is handling domestic sales. EMPEROR is currently in production in Savannah, Georgia.
Romaine Waite (Star Trek: Discovery) has joined 'Christmas Calendar,' a Netflix holiday film starring Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) and Quincy Brown (Dope, Fox series Star) directed by Bradley Walsh with Brad Krevoy producing. Waite will play Mitch, the brother-in-law to Abby Sutton (Kat Graham). The film follows Abby Sutton (Graham), an aspiring photographer who inherits a magical advent calendar from her deceased grandmother that seems to be predicting her future -and pointing the way to a new romance with a hunky admirer. In addition to several indie films such as Salvage and Antisocial. Waite recently appeared as a guest star on NBC's Taken and recurred on Spike/Paramount Network's The Mist. He is repped by CDA and Pisgarie Entertainment. Romaine's acting career began with numerous short and independent films. He has also demonstrated true acting dexterity in well-reviewed stage performances. As an actor, Romaine is committed to telling true-to-life stories that not only entertain, but also provoke frank conversations about the human condition and the state of our society.
