BWW Review: THE WAKE at Premiere Stages is an Outstanding Family Drama

Premiere Stages at Kean University is currently staging the world premiere of 'The Wake' by Tammy Ryan through July 28. This finely crafted family drama is laced with just the right amount of humor. Directed by the theatre's Producing Artistic Director, John J. Wooten, the cast features four outstanding thespians.

Kean University Theatre Conservatory Has 'Magic To Do' As It Presents PIPPIN

Kean University's Theatre Conservatory will present the award-winning musical Pippin, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson. Pippin will run from February 16 - 24 in Kean University's Wilkins Theatre, located on the University's main campus at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union. Guided by the Leading Player and a troupe of players, Pippin follows a young man of the same name on his quest to find his place in the world and become "extraordinary."

GOOD MORNING, THEATERATI! It's Thursday, June 1, 2017 - or, as we like to call it #TheaterThursday, 'June is busting out all over…' as a song from Carousel reminds us, and there's no better way to kick off a new month than by planning our theater outings for the weekend! Tomorrow night at Cumberland County Playhouse, the company, cast and crew unveil the 2017 model of Smoke on the Mountain, which marks the 24th year of the musical playing in Crossville. Weslie Webster directs and her cast includes Daniel W. Black and Lauren Marshall as Sanders family father and mother Burl and Vera.

Kean Theatre Conservatory Opens 2016-2017 Season

The Kean Theatre Conservatory will open its 2016-2017 season this week with Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis (October 14 - 22, Zella Fry Theatre). An Olivier nominee for Best New Play, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train premiered Off-Broadway at Labyrinth Theater Company in 2000 under the direction of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. Praised by The New York Times as a "probing, intense portrait of lives behind bars," Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train chronicles the story of Angel Cruz, who has recently been moved into maximum security at Rikers Island. While in protective custody he meets Lucius Jenkins, a sociopathic serial killer awaiting extradition to the state of Florida for execution. Linked by fate and facing an unpredictable outcome, Angel and Lucius tangle over questions of innocence and guilt, crime and punishment, and individual moral accountability.

Robert Henderson and Karen Lee Henderson 1933 - 2016' (published by Xlibris). This new book examines some unique environmental issues in light of the author's unique life experiences.

GHOST LIGHT: THE HAUNTING Begins at TBG Theatre Next Month

La Luna Productions has announced that it will present GHOST LIGHT: THE HAUNTING, based on Yotsuya Ghost Tales, the Kabuki play inspired by the legend of a horribly betrayed woman named Oiwa. Written by award winning playwright, Carol Fisher Sorgenfrei and Produced and Directed by Emmy Award Winning Penny Bergman, the production previews begin on October 23rd with a special opening night performance on Halloween evening at midnight and will continue through November 8th at TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th St. in Manhattan.

AEA to Celebrate Asian Heritage Month with 'ORPHANS OF THE NIGHTINGALE,' 5/27

In celebration of Asian Heritage month, the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee of Actors' Equity Association will present 'Orphans of the Nightingale of the Desert Abridged: A Bollywood Spectacular,' an evening of short plays written by members of the Ma-Yi Theater Company Writers Lab. This one-night only, free community event will take place on Tuesday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7:00 p.m.; first come, first served) at the Engelman Recital Hall at Baruch Performing Arts Center (55 Lexington Avenue at East 25th Street).
