In celebration of her soon to be released album Ann Kittredge:reIMAGINE(Jazzheads, Inc./King Kozmo Music), a specially curated collection of songs uniquely re-imagined, Ms. Kittredge, will appear at The Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 West 42nd Street – between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Thursday, May 26th at 7pm.

Chicago Dancers United, which supports the health and wellness of Chicago's professional dance community, announces an expanded lineup and program for the 30th anniversary of its annual fundraiser, Dance for Life, which takes place in person on Thursday, August 26 at 6 p.m. (new start time) at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.

In summer, I enjoy everything I watch more because as students school's out and we have at least one month without worrying about a thing, so if I watch a really great movie probably later I'll be painting something or discovering new artists because of the soundtrack or reading the novel that inspired what I saw.

I'm bound to watch some movie musicals this summer, and since there’s enough to make a list, I thought I’d share some musical films I’ll be watching this summer that I recommend.

Every time I see a blank piece of paper, I have a little mini stroke. It mocks me because it tells me the last thing I wrote wasn't good enough to get people to love or respect me. I don't write for that gratification but it's that little voice, that little kid in me, that yearns for the approval of others.

A summer tradition returns to Riverbend Music Center on the Fourth of July when the Cincinnati Pops presents "Red, White, and BOOM," a concert celebrating American independence and musical traditions. John Morris Russell leads the family-friendly Pops performance, featuring guest artists Six-String Soldiers US Army Field Band, Cincinnati Pops Chorale, and Broadway star and Tony Award nominee Montego Glover -all this along with Rozzi's Famous Fireworks after the concert. The Pops series is presented by PNC and kids 17 and under are free on the lawn courtesy of Toyota.

July 5th marks the global release of the latest Cincinnati Pops Orchestra recording, Voyage, under the direction of Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. The first studio recording made at Cincinnati Music Hall following a major renovation draws inspiration from the stars and includes the world premiere recording of the title track by Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino. His composition, Voyage, was co-commissioned by the Cincinnati Pops and the National Symphony Orchestra and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing and the historic "giant leap for mankind."

Last night, the Critics' Choice Awards were announced. Taking home the top prize of Best Picture was Roma. Also, in a surprising turn of events, both Lady Gaga and Glenn Close took home the award for Best Actress, for A Star is Born and The Wife, respectively.

The BAFTA Tea Party was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on January 5, 2019. The event was presented by American Airlines, BBC America and Jaguar Land Rover.

Roma won for Best Picture of the Year, it was announced today by Claudia Puig, President of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA). 

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the 2019 Golden Globe Awards this morning. Both films received wide critical acclaim and broke box office records this year. Black Panther became a cultural phenomenon that has broken boundaries and created a movement, gracing the cover of Time Magazine. Black Panther had the highest grossing non-sequel opening weekend of all time, showing that diversity and representation in front of and behind the camera can equal global box-office success. Incredibles 2 marked the biggest opening weekend in history for an animated film, grossing more than $1.2 billion globally to date and garnering widespread critical acclaim. Two-time Oscar winner writer/director Brad Bird's follow up to 2004's Oscar-winning The Incredibles expands upon the original's daring concept of a family of Supers who struggle against society's fickle embrace while tasked with stopping a devious plot to undermine the public's belief and faith in government and national security. Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) this time takes center stage as the family's secret weapon, while Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) stays home to care for the children, who display increasingly curious powers of their own.
