Museum of the Moving Image Hosts Ribbon-Cutting for The Jim Henson Exhibition

At a celebratory opening ceremony for The Jim Henson Exhibition, housed in a new gallery at Museum of the Moving Image funded by The City of New York, the First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray, the Museum's Executive Director Carl Goodman, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, and City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer were joined by Jim Henson's daughter Cheryl Henson, and special appearances by Abby Cadabby, Red Fraggle, and Fozzie Bear, among other guests. This major new exhibition is dedicated to the life and legacy of Jim Henson, who was a singular creative figure in the realms of television, film, and puppetry-and a New Yorker who made the City his base for family and work. The Jim Henson Exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, July 22.

Soho Rep. Announces Return To Walker Street for 2018 Season

Soho Rep. is pleased to announce an anticipated return to 46 Walker Street for the 2018 season. The storefront venue, which was closed in September 2016, has been Soho Rep.'s artistic home since 1991 and where it has produced such notable works as Sarah Kane's Blasted, Annie Baker's Uncle Vanya, and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' An Octoroon, among others.

Roundabout Theatre Company to Train New Crop of Technical Theatre Artists

Roundabout Theatre Company and Education at Roundabout have announced the Theatrical Workforce Development Program (TWDP), the theatre industry's first workforce development program to train and place young adults in professional technical theatre careers. This new initiative aims to break down the barriers that prevent young adults from joining the industry and empower a diverse new generation of theatre professionals.

Mayor's Office of Media and BuzzFeed Launch ONE BOOK, ONE NEW YORK Community Reading Program

Today, Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner Julie Menin announced “One Book, One New York,” an exciting citywide initiative that will bring book-loving New Yorkers together to read the same book at the same time. With quintessential New York flair, the program will feature five celebrity advocates – Bebe Neuwirth (Madame Secretary), William H. Macy (Shameless), Giancarlo Esposito (The Get Down), Larry Wilmore (Comedian), and Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) – each urging New Yorkers to vote for their choice. This evening, BuzzFeed and the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment will host a book party for the launch of One Book, One New York in celebration of the five finalists and New York City's hometown book publishing industry. A city-wide public awareness campaign on subways, buses and LinkNYC also launches today advising New Yorkers of the program's launch and encouraging them to vote on the final selection. Videos produced in partnership with BuzzFeed featuring testimonials by the One Book celebrity advocates will be posted online and disseminated widely during the voting process.

Recipients Announced for 2nd Annual 'Made in NY' Diversity Fellowships
