Trinity Rep Announces Hilarious Fast-Paced Comedy NATIVE GARDENS

Trinity Repertory Company will open Karen Zacarias' Native Gardens in April. This hilarious comedy of being neighborly brings commentary on the American Dream, the racial divide, and what happens when we build fictional (and literal) fences.

TheatreWorks Unveils 18-19 Season Including A Hershey Felder World Premiere And More

Theatre enthusiasts packed the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts tonight to hear Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley and Executive Director Phil Santora of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley reveal the lineup for the company's 49th season, which launches this summer. Among the exhilarating works announced were: the World Premiere of a new piece by Hershey Felder on Claude Debussy, an acclaimed Tony-winning musical, a thrilling political prizefight, and an array of Regional Premieres that include a hit comedy that sends up suburban values, a gospel/rhythm & blues musical developed at TheatreWorks, a heart-stirring musical for the holidays, a comic drama about one of the key historical events in the last century, a searing look at an unsung American hero, plus the return of the grown-up holiday hit The Santaland Diaries. Main Street Theater (MST) closes its 2016 - 2017 MainStage subscription season with the regional premiere of Native Gardens by Karen Zacarias.  "I'm interested in working on scripts that reflect both a world I know and understand, and a world that to me is entirely foreign," shares director Brandon Weinbrenner.  "Native Gardens centers on the comedic combat between two opposite parties with respective poignancies, prejudices, and basic needs.  I love this play and am thrilled to be working on a script by the heartfelt and hilarious Karen Zacarias."

Hostos Center presents New Play from Repertorio Español

Immediately following the February celebrations of the Dominican Republican's strides for freedom and liberty, Repertorio Español introduces its new production En el Nombre de Salome (In the name of Salome) to the Bronx, after a successful debut in Manhattan.  Based on a novel by Julia Alvarez, written by Marco Antonio Rodriguez and directed by Jose Zayas this new play tells the story of Dominican poet and political advocate Salome Ureña.
