The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) announced today the winners of the 2018 NYMF Awards for Excellence, which were awarded on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Hudson Terrace
Sierra Boggess, Josh Lamon, and Mary Mitchell Campbell will perform in SANCTUARY: ASTP + Broadway Sing for Children in Need, on Monday, August 13 at 7:00 PM at Joe's Pub.
With a title like 'Emojiland' and an aesthetic that drips with millennial energy, I admit I wasn't expecting much from the musical, which opened at the New York Musical Festival last week (on World Emoji Day, no less). What I was greeted with was two hours of fun, catchy songs, immeasurable talent and an existential (or, should I say, 'textistential') plot that made me think way more deeply than I had planned to.
The complete cast and creative team have been announced for EMOJILAND, an official selection of the 2018 New York Musical Festival that was Inspired by The Unicode Standard, and takes place within the imaginary digital world inside a smartphone. Co-created by husband-and-wife-team Laura Nicole Harrison (book, music & lyrics) & Keith Harrison (book, music & lyrics), the production is directed by Thomas Caruso (named NYMF's Best Director in 2014), and will very appropriately begin performances on World Emoji Day, July 17th with a run through July 22nd in the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row.
In an unprecedented partnership, Broadway's new musical comedy THE PROM will donate a percentage of ticket sales to the Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) which provides financial support for theatre programs to schools in need.
