SMASH is setting its sights on Broadway with a creative dream team and an official title of SMASH, A New Musical. The news was announced today by Steven Spielberg, Robert Greenblatt and Neil Meron who will serve as lead producers. They are developing a live stage adaptation inspired by the NBC series of the same name on which they all worked together.

Broadway In The HOOD has announced the new online series 'Legends Live: with Torrey Russell' premiering exclusively on Facebook, Instagram, & YouTube Live, TODAY! April 2, at 5:00 pm ET, 2:00 pm PT.

On Monday, March 16 at their annual Broadway Beacon Awards Gala at The JW Marriot Essex House (160 Central Park South), leading NYC arts education nonprofit Inside Broadway (Executive Director, Michael Presser) will honor Tony Award-winning actor, dancer & singer Ben Vereen with a Lifetime Achievement Award (last year, stage icon Chita Rivera received the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award).

Internationally acclaimed superstar Ben Vereen will receive the Gold Coast Arts Center's Lifetime Achievement Award at an opening night reception of the Gold Coast International Film Festival on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Krasnoff Theater at Tilles Center in Brookville, New York according to Regina Gil, founder and executive director of the multi-cultural, nonprofit arts organization.

Joshua Bergasse is in town making time for master class, discovering local talent and watching homemade flying contraptions dive into the Mississippi, as well as letting us in on a little secret that may or may not happen but is pretty fun to think about. Oh, and he choreographed and directed SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, too.

In January I had the absolute pleasure of seeing The King and I at the Morrison Center in Boise Idaho. I got to see Akina Kitazawa perform in the role of Eliza (to those who haven't seen the show she is in the second half of the show in the musical number ' The Small House of Uncle Thomas'). I got to talk to her about things from The King and I to dream roles within theatre. Her performance was absolutely one of the best parts of the show, filled with so much passion and beauty. The entire audience couldn't keep their eyes off of what was happening the entire number. Shes now in a performance with 'Theatre Under the Stars' performing 'Jerome Robbins' Broadway' which Akina will talk about throughout the interview. You can read that down below! :)

Pioneer Theatre Company's 2019-2020 season is filled with an eclectic array of exciting shows, many of which are coming direct from Broadway, and it opens with a pre-Broadway tryout of an off-Broadway hit. Artistic Director Karen Azenberg generously gave her time to speak with BroadwayWorld about how the season came together and what is in store, in addition to sharing the title of next year's concert production.

BTP faculty range from professional dancers and choreographers to vocal coaches and directors. The deadline for BTP 2019 applications and recorded auditions is March 1st.

Ben Vereen is one of the most accomplished and versatile entertainers. From starring in Broadway shows such asWicked,Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, to winning the Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for 'Best Actor in a Musical' for his role in Pippin, Mr. Vereen is a stage legend. Not a stranger to the screen, Vereen is currently filming a recurring role in the FOX series STAR, created by Lee Daniels. He recently finished filming the new TV series MAGNUM P.I for CBS. Ben is also working on a new Broadway show, 'Reflections.'
