Check out photos from the world premiere of “Back Porch”, a new comedy by Eric Anderson opening this weekend at The Victory Theatre Center in Burbank.

Playwright Eric Anderson’s Back Porch world premieres June 2, 2023, at The Victory Theatre Center. Kelie McIver directs Eric’s reimagining of the 1955 film shoot of Picnic with the cast of Jonathan Fishman, Isaac W. Jay, Cody Lemmon, Karl Maschek, Jordan Morgan and Eric Zak.

Performances of Back Porch take place on Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 4 p.m. from June 2 through July 9 at The Victory Theatre Center.

The newly renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents Tracy Morgan in the No Disrespect tour on Saturday, October 15 at 8pm. Tickets range from $35-$110.   

In back-to-back events, the African American community comes together for a weekend celebrating Black excellence. On February 22, the 51st NAACP Image Awards airing live on BET Networks is the preeminent multicultural awards show from an African American point of view. It celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film and honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors. The next evening, the American Black Film Festival will host its annual awards season gala, ABFF Honors. The ceremony celebrates Black culture by recognizing individuals who have made distinguished contributions to American entertainment. The honorees being celebrated at ABFF Honors have leveraged their career to carve out a space for people of color in Hollywood helping to create a more diverse landscape. ABFF Honors is an opportunity for the industry to acknowledge how far entertainment has come and thank the individuals who have made it their mission to propel the African American community forward.

More than 18,000 fifth grade students and 800 teachers from Utah schools will attend free concerts in February as part of the Utah Symphony's annual 'Fifth Grade Docent Concert' program. The concerts, conducted by Associate Conductor Conner Gray Covington, feature the finale from Igor Stravinsky's 'The Firebird Suite' and a virtual getaway to the Islands of Hawaii with 'Symphony of the Hawaiian Birds.'

His characters are typically loners, drifters caught between a mythical past and the mechanized present; his work often concerns deeply troubled families, lovers or friends. Two of his plays centering on loners at the end of their rope, THE UNSEEN HAND coupled with Shepard's gritty and audacious KILLER'S HEAD, joins Odyssey Theatre Ensemble's 50th Anniversary a?oeCirca '69a?? Season of significant and adventurous plays that premiered around the time of the company's inception.
