A sneak peek at the new musical All Shook Up, which featured a breakout performance by Cheyenne Jackson, and we start things off at the opening night of Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's musical Pacific Overtures. This bold and underrated 1976 musical spans over 150 years. It starred two original members from the 1976 Broadway production, Sab Shimono and Alvin Ing. Tony award winner BD Wong who joined them, told me how exciting it was to be a part of this glorious musical. 'We have gone on this journey as a company. Just an incredible amount of very stimulating and creative work with an incredible director. I mean world class, no pun intended. Fantastic, loving, caring, passionate, creative person. And to have that experience is so rare, and to be in a Sondheim, Weidman musical, when Sondheim and Weidman are there in the room, taking notes and telling you what they think and why they wrote something, is unbelievable.'
Classic Stage Company, in response to new restrictions on mass gatherings due to COVID-19, has suspended rehearsals and ticket sales for its revival of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins, directed by John Doyle.
ASSASSINS, the 1990 Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman show featuring the stories of nine successful and would-be presidential assassins, may seem like an odd choice of subject for a musical, particularly as the first musical in the Gamm Theatre's 35 season history. However, with inventive staging and a top-notch cast guided by artistic director Tony Estrella, this selection pays off.

Classic Stage Company has announced its 2020-21 season. Bookending the season will be Doyle's new staging of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, in fall 2020, and the long-awaited New York premiere of Ten Cents a Dance, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorzenz Hart, in spring 2021. In between, CSC presents the third annual edition of its winter repertory series, this time pairing landmark 1970s prison dramas: the Tony Award-winning, Apartheid-era play The Island and Kiss of the Spider Woman, which inspired the Tony Award-winning musical and Academy Award-winning film of the same name.

Classic Stage Company (CSC; Artistic Director, John Doyle; Chief Operating Officer/General Manager, Toni Marie Davis) has announced a three-week extension, additional cast members, and the creative team for the company's highly anticipated, rapidly-selling-out staging of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins, directed by John Doyle. The production will now run April 2 a?' June 7 (opening April 16) at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater at Classic Stage Company (136 E. 13th St, New York), spanning ten weeks of Sondheim's 90th birthday year. Tickets for all extension performances will go on sale Tuesday, March 10, at noon EST.
