Signature Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for the musical Pacific Overtures with music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by John Weidman.

The 2023 Kleban Prize was presented on February 6 at BMI’s New York City headquarters, 7 World Trade Center. The 2023 Kleban Prize winners are most promising musical theater lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver, and most promising musical theater librettist, co-librettist Ethan Lipton. What did our critic think of ASSASSINS at Columbus Performing Arts Center? Stephen Sondheim issued a not-so-subtle warning to critics attending his musical ASSASSINS. In the song, 'the Ballad of Booth,' the balladeer questions the Abraham Lincoln killer for his motives: 'Some say you killed a country, John/Because of bad reviews.'

Assassins lay bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical 'revusical' that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.
