The inaugural Hamptons Design & Trade Show House which benefits The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation bowed on Sunday, August 11. The show house, which features the work of over 20 designers, artists and local businesses, is the product of a unique and talented group of designers and artist from New York City to Montauk presented by ISC Design Concepts led by designer Scott Benjamin Tucker, The Hamptons Design & Trade Host Committee and Storm Motors. Art Southampton's Nick Korniloff and Pamela Cohen, with Beth McNeill, The McNeill Group and her husband artist Jeff Muhs co-hosted an elegant Summer Soiree to kickoff the upcoming Art Southampton, presented by Art Miami, the premier international contemporary and modern art fair and marketplace for acquiring the finest works of art available in the Hamptons. The by-invitation-only event for young collectors and Art Southampton Host Committee members was held at the Muhs' sprawling Shinnecock Hills aerie in their beautifully landscaped sculpture garden and in their art filled home on July 5. The Council of Advisors of the Arts Horizons LeRoy Neiman Art Center and the Arts Horizons Board of Directors welcomed guests to the Second Annual a fundraiser, Art Splash 2013, Larger Than Life at the LeRoy Neiman Art Center (LNAC) in Central Harlem. The evening featured an awards ceremony, exhibition, buffet dinner, cocktails and a silent auction celebrated the legacy of the famed artist LeRoy Neiman and his vision to provide arts education to the young children of Harlem. Southampton art dealer Arthur T. Kalaher presented a fascinating survey of the works of Russian-born painter and poet, Nahum Tschacbasov at the National Arts Club covering his work from the 1930s until his death in 1984. This is the first important survey of his works in almost three decades. The exhibition which runs until June 16 is presented in conjunction with the 11th Annual Russian Heritage month sponsored by the Russian American Foundation in cooperation with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the New York Post. One month ago, 35 gifted lyricists, composers and librettists took up residency at Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, CT for the first ever Johnny Mercer Writers Colony to participate in an environment of discovery and inspiration. Working in teams and housed in specially constructed quintessential New England two story cottages each equipped with a piano, the teams worked on over 30 musicals during the course of the month. On Saturday February 16, the residency program concluded with a Salon as had been done each week featuring a sparkling sampler of new musicals that were worked on throughout the month. Academy Award winner Christopher Walken and his wife casting director (Sopranos, Entourage) Georgianne Walken made a rare appearance on the town attending a preview of Kenyetta Lethridge's Innocent Flesh at the Actors Temple Theatre. The usually camera shy Walken was so impressed by the four young actresses who play teenage hookers in the searing drama posed happily with the cast members as they whipped out their cell-phones. They also congratulated writer / director Kenyetta Lethridge and producers Michael Mann & Diana Zollicoffer on the production.
