Charles Dutoit to Lead CSO in WAR REQUIEM, 11/14-16

Guest conductor Charles Dutoit leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in Benjamin Britten's War Requiem, the English composer's impassioned denunciation of war on Thursday, November 14; Friday, November 15; and Saturday, November 16, all at 8 p.m.

Concert Series at The Frick Collection Celebrates 75th Anniversary, Beg. Today

The Frick Collection presents its seventy-fifth anniversary season of classical music concerts in the elegant setting of the museum's Music Room. Debuting in 1938, just three years after The Frick Collection opened to the public; the concert series is one of the most celebrated in New York City and has delighted thousands of visitors over the years with world-class performances ranging from solo recitals to chamber music groups to early music ensembles. The Music Room, built in 1935 as part of the transformation of the private mansion into a museum and the setting for concerts since then, conveys the atmosphere of a private salon, offering performers and attendees a uniquely intimate environment and impressive acoustics.

John Mark Bowman Set for Generic Theatre's BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, Now thru 9/15

The rock musical BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson will receive its Hampton Roads regional debut in a new immersive production at the The Generic Theater in downtown Norfolk, VA General producer Jeannette Rainey, executive director Philip Odango and artistic directors Matthew Friedman and Jennifer Murphy present the Norfolk run. Performances will begin tonight, August 23 and is currently scheduled to run through September 15.

Barrington Stage Presents SCOTT AND HEM IN THE GARDEN OF ALLAH, Now thru 9/29

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, presents Scott and Hem in the Garden of Allah, a world premiere play written and directed by BSC Associate Artist Mark St. Germain about the friendship and rivalry between F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway.

MR. PIM PASSES BY, JANE EYRE & More Set for Taproot Theatre's 2014 Season

Taproot Theatre Company announces the lineup for its 38th season that promises audiences laughter, delight, wit, intellect and downright entertainment. Featuring premieres and classics, there is something for everybody. Taproot Theatre Company's 2014 Season runs from January through October. Resubscriptions are currently being accepted. The season will be open to new subscribers in October 2013.

The WGAE Foundation Renamed as Writers Guild Initiative

The Writers Guild of America, East Foundation has changed its name -- it is now called the Writers Guild Initiative (WGI). The name change is part of a rebranding that recognizes the organization's long time proactive and focused mission: 'to perpetuate the art and craft of storytelling, either by professionals or amateurs, through education and practical experience, on local, national, and global levels.' The Initiative's programs are designed to reach various populations and help them to find their unique voice as writers.

STAGE TO SCREEN: For John Markus' (BBQ PITMASTERS) Love of BBQ, All Roads Lead to Franken

A case could easily be made that John Markus, the creator and Executive Producer of Destination America's docu-reality series 'BBQ Pitmasters' has done more for 'The Art of Barbecue' than anyone in recent memory. In addition to filming the series' 13-episode fifth season, Markus is traveling the country's film festival circuit with his documentary 'The Kings of BBQ Barbecue Kuwait,' which chronicles a seven-day trip to Kuwait City in 2010 in which he and five all-star Pitmasters served 5,000 troops a taste of home.
