Queer|Art, New York City's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce a special Fall season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd St.), September 16-December 2. Organized by guest curators Vivian Crockett, Camilo Godoy, and Carlos Mottaa?"the season, titled Chicas y Fantasmas, explores the shells we inhabit to move through the world. Presented by four contemporary Latinx artists, the season assembles a fierce ensemble of showgirls, cyborgs, glam rockers, and two Chicana teens who defy gendered expectations, ableist norms, and society's limitations to actualize their own self-constructed identities and shape a vision of the world in which they want to live. A full itinerary follows. All screenings begin at 8pm.
Eleven world premiere plays and musicals seen first by Chicago audiences were among those receiving nominations by the Jeff Awards, announced today. A total of 192 nominations were made in 34 categories that honor Chicago Equity theatrical productions that opened between August 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019. During the 2018-19 season, Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 132 Equity productions offered by 43 producing organizations and from these openings, 112 productions were a?oeJeff Recommendeda?? and eligible for award nominations.

The DANCE-A-THON revels in filthy funk music, endless dancing, community building, and inclusivity across age, race, gender, sexuality, and class. DJs tag team in sets as a dynamic give-and-take, throughout the night; they include founding DJ Amber Martin along with Patrick Johnson, Ana Matronic (Scissor Sisters), Seth Kirby (Joshua Light Show), Thomas Campbell, and DatKat (O.E.A.).
