Bang on a Can Announces 2012-13 Global Touring Season

Bang on a Can's 2012-2013 season takes the new music collective throughout the United States and around the world featuring an extensive selection of brand new musical adventures alongside a recommitment to acclaimed projects from past years. Bang on a Can performs regularly this season in its hometown of New York, and travels worldwide to cities including Los Angeles, Sydney, Melbourne, London, Krakow, Toronto, and in many other places throughout the U.S. and internationally.

'Sprechen Sie englisch?' fragt Hugh Laurie bei seinem Konzert im Berliner Tempodrom in gebrochenem deutsch. Für alle die dies vielleicht nicht beherrrschen, könne dann der Sitznachbar übersetzen meint Laurie verschmitzt und nimmt am Klavier Platz. Das steht auf einer Bühne, die aussieht wie eine Mischung aus Wohnzimmer, Pub und Cowboy-Rodeo-Gedächtnis Bar. Inmitten von Stehlampen unterschiedlichster Art und Größen wirkt Hugh Laurie fast wie ein Fremdkörper. Dieser große, beinahe ungelenk wirkende Brite will also allen Ernstens amerikanischer Musik fröhnen. Ja er will und er kann es!

West Valley Symphony Performs at Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 7/2

Walla Fest to Return to Centre Theater, 7/8

Walla Fest returns to the Centre Theater on July 8 with music beginning at 7pm for another in its year long extravaganza of contemporary music. This show includes new bands from the tri-state region as well as Walla favorites from the past year's festivals.

Imagination Stage Presents World Premiere of THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE, Now thru 8/12

Imagination Stage, in a collaboration with The Washington Ballet, presents THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE. In this fusion of theater, dance, and puppetry, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, the roles of the four children are played jointly by an actor and a dancer, and the courageous lion Aslan is portrayed by a life-size puppet operated by three actor/puppeteers, similar to the puppets used in the Broadway production War Horse.

NAACP and Iron Age Theatre Host Theatrical Juneteenth Celebration in Norristown, 6/16

Today, June 16th Iron Age Theater and the NAACP Youth Council of Norristown will celebrate the freeing of the slaves in a theatrically dynamic way. The third annual Juneteenth event will take guests on a walking tour of downtown Norristown with a series of stops where professional actors from the region will present scenes, monologues or historical documents accenting the theme of freedom and slavery. Norristown celebrates Juneteenth as part of the towns year long bicentennial events.

GoKash Productions Presents TOPDOG/UNDERDOG, Now thru 6/17

Topdog / Underdog is the story of two brothers, abandoned by their parents as adolescents, Lincoln and Booth. Both feeling powerless, they find themselves competing for the topdog position. Lincoln, the older brother, is now divorced, and living with Booth in a seedy, dilapidated room in a boarding house. They have no running water, but they have plenty of liquor. The room is furnished without comforts and with minimal furniture, including milk crates and a sheet of cardboard that serves as the card table for Booth to practice his 3-card monte hustle.

Walla Fest Opens for Norristown Arts Hill Festival Today, 5/4

As part of the multi-day Norristown Arts Hill Festival, Walla Fest returns to the Centre Theater stage with a evening of music, art and film today, May 4. Walla Fest expands its horizons with a show full of regionally acclaimed bands.

ALLEGIANCE - A NEW AMERICAN MUSICAL Starring Lea Salonga & More Set for The Old Globe 2012-13 Season - Full Season Announcement, San Diego

The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play's 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People and Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size.

THE BOY WHO SEES Plays in Philadelphia, 4/11-29

Nova D Arts Collective, Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble, Company Theatre, and GoKash Productions present "The Boy Who Sees" by Davon Williams, winner of three Philadelphia Urban Theater Festival awards and starring Kash Goins, Erica Brown, Hasan Malik, Andre Brown, and Brett Gray. Jesimiel Jenkins directs. Choreographer: A.C. Gilmore choreographs. The show plays April 11th - April 29th at First Philadelphia Charter School.
