Producers Jed Bernstein and Adam Zotovich announced today that Tony Award-winners James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave will return to the New York stage this Fall to star opposite one another in the Broadway Premiere of Alfred Uhry‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Driving Miss Daisy. Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy will begin performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Former 'Britain's Got Talent' contestant Susan Boyle may sing for Pope Benedict XVI when he visits Britain this September, the Associated Press reports today. Although talks are still in progress, Boyle will likely perform at a papal Mass in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow on September 16. Benedict's visit will be the first visit of a pope to Britain since 1982; he will address Parliament and beatify nineteenth-century Cardinal John Henry Newman.

From rural people searching for work in cities to urban offenders being sent to new Appalachian prisons, as coal miners become prison guards and coal energy shifts to wind power, the complicated and evolving relationship between Baltimore and the mountains offers a unique prism through which to consider race, culture, power and history.
