New MAYS PLAYS MAYS December 20-21

After many recordings for the Chiaroscuro, Concord, Discovery, DMP, Palmetto, and Steeplechase record companies, pianist Bill Mays is releasing, on his own No Blooze Music label (released November 28, 2019), Mays Plays Mays: Bill Mays and Friends. The friends include guitarist John Hart, trumpeter Marvin Stamm, drummer Matt Wilson and bassist Martin Wind. Beautifully recorded by Matt Balitsaris, and mastered by Michael MacDonald, this marks Bill's 38th recording as a leader.

100 Students Make Goodman Theatre Debut To Conclude Summer Education Programming

Goodman Theatre's summer programsa?"PlayBuild Youth Intensive and Musical Theater Intensivea?"culminate with two final showcases performed by 100 students (aged 14-18) on August 9 and 10 at 7pm. Under the leadership of Walter Director of Education and Engagement Willa J. Taylor, both programs were offered free of charge and taught over the course of six-to-seven weeks in the Alice Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement (a?oethe Alicea??). Each performance will be themed to Summer Love to celebrate the various iterations of love.

More than 450 guests were starstruck at Goodman Theatre's May 18 Spring Gala, headlined by Broadway star and Tony Award nominee Megan Hilty. The black-tie event, held at the Fairmont Chicago, raised more than $800,000 to support the theater's Education and Community Engagement programs. The gala was co-chaired by Teri and Doug Brown and Carole Wood and Carl Jenkins. The Goodman's "Starstruck" Spring Gala was presented by The Women's Board.

Tony Award-winning Best Musical, THE BAND'S VISIT has recouped its $8.75 million capitalization on Broadway. The new musical began performances on October 7, 2017 and officially opened on November 9, 2017 on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street).
