As one of the nation's leading regional theaters and producing partners for Broadway, Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) has a well-earned reputation for launching both performers and shows for the Great White Way. The theater will be the recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award this Sunday. Since their inception in 1996, the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey. Among the early nominees and winners are Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables), Tony Award winners Laura Benanti (Gypsy) and Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon), Tony nominee Rob McClure (Chaplin), Shanice Williams, star of NBC's The Wiz Live! and Olivier Award nominee Jared Gertner (The Book of Mormon). The 2016 Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards Presented by the Investors Foundation ceremony took place at Paper Mill Playhouse on Tuesday, June 7, at 7:30pm, featuring presenters from Broadway and beyond. In an effort to truly live up to its name, Little Radical Theatrics will be bringing to Westchester a wildly theatrical, moving, and innovative retelling of one of musical theater's most celebrated classics, Lionel Bart's OLIVER. Utilizing the iconic Charles Dickens novel, embracing the darkness and grittiness of his original text, we will begin at the end. With the aid of an ensemble cast, a stark, minimalist set, and the limitless possibilities of imagination, we enter a lonely, condemned cell in Newgate Prison, wherein the 70-year-old Fagin spends his last two hours alive before his execution being haunted by the people and events that led to his inevitable demise. The timeless story of the young orphan boy navigating through the seedy underbelly of London's crime world will be turned on its head. This will also be the first official production of the 2009 London Palladium Version!
The Phoenix Theatre will hold its 21st annual craft beer festival, Brew-Ha-Ha, on Saturday, June 18, 2016, 3:00-7:00 PM. The event is open to individuals aged 21 and older. Sample the region's finest microbrews and craft beers, enjoy live music all afternoon long, and indulge in great food at Indy's original beer sampling event. Proceeds from Brew-Ha-Ha support the Phoenix Theatre. Corporate sponsors for this year's event are The Doug Dilling Team at Unite Real Estate and Williams Creek Consulting.

Little Radical Theatrics (Fatima Viegas, Executive Producer) proudly presents its first show of LRT's 5th full season, the classic Broadway comedy "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum". Directed by LRT Artistic Director Michael J Mirra, Choreographed by Bretten Popiel with Musical Direction by Steve Loftus. "Something familiar, something peculiar, something for everyone: a comedy tonight!" is the promise of one of Broadway's most loved musicals. Sure, producers and audiences may have missed the boat with the heavily anticipated, indefinitely postponed James Corden-led revival this past season, but that's where the Little Radicals come in to serve up the surplus of silliness! A FUNNY THING … FORUM tells the story of Pseudolus, a slave in ancient Rome, who goes to great lengths to gain his freedom by helping his young master woo the pretty girl next door.
Chicago stage, TV and film star Michael Shannon did the honor of announcing the nominees for the 2014-2015 Equity Jeff Awards. A video of the presentation is available at www.JeffAwards.org.
